Zap the trolls boards, and all the topics it contains.

People ended up deliberately ruining good posts in order to have them sent to trolls so they could boost their all-important post counts.

Call me vindictive, but I think removing the board and thus culling their much-loved stats would be a Very Good Thing.

Any way of reducing the post count without actually deleting it altogether?

That way you could do a - # of posts per offense... could even tie it in to the karma report.

Once again I agree wholeheartedly. I think it would be great if mods could ban muppets from individual boards. It might give each board a more individual character. the humanities board could definitly do without a few uninformed muppets as it has the potential to be an excellent forum.

I like the post count. I think that one of the best way of dealing with muppets would be to reduce their counts when they misbehaved. A little slap on the wrists but well short of a 12-click. Board's judicial system is a bit limited when the only punishment it can inflict is a death sentence.

Good point but what about Karma? I'm trying to use it in Games at the mo' and if all the mods used it more it could become a powerful weapon against the forces of muppetry. Posters should be rewarded for good posts and warned for behaving stupidly.

In some cases though I think there is a tendency to scream too early for a 12-click, which while understandable given the muppets of the past, doesn't really allow for newbies to learn the Ways Of the Boards(tm).

Maybe a more specific FAQ is needed to explain the rules and to a certain extent the culture of the boards, similar to most Usenet newsgroups.

Why not just take out the post count? Seems like it just encourages childish behaviour.What does it matter how many posts one has?, if you are talking rubbish,its rubbish no matter what your count is.

A Judicial system is an interesting idea I've been giving some thought to lately.

I believe in communities, and I think they should set and enforce their own standards and laws. Each board is its own community really, it would be great to have a way for them to be judge jury and the admins be executioneers.

We have a potent weapon in our numbers but it might well attract more muppets. I've found that severity is its own reward and I'll bet you for example we wouldnt have any more school muppets if they knew about Glenstal...

The judicial system sounds like a good idea to me, temporary/perm bans from individual boards would be a nice addition, plenty of degrees of punishment....

As for trolls, take off and nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

True, but just taking it out will force muppets to find some other way to get the "high score" on the board.

Maybe a more valid scale. Like say Posts over time, the more posts in the less time gives you a negative score?

Karma seems to be another thing people take seriously. You have Lucy upset because only one of her two karma points are showing and another person I gave a -1 to for a post apoligised straight away and removed the offending post (but I had no way to remove the negative karma ).
