14 player tourney.8 left .utg calls 500 +1 calls BB calls .flop 893 of diamonds.
utg goes all in for 7000 . next thinks for 3/4 min and calls.has about 7000 left aftere call.BB has 88 in the hole = set of 8s.the two players in front are known to be loose.BB has about 15k total.is it an automatic call even though there is a possible flush out there? considering its 3/2 to fill house.

Yeah you have to call here, I may even go back over the top and get the rest of the other players chips in before he misses his draw. I'd say 88 is ahead, the first player is nuts if he is going all in first to act with a flush although more and more players are using this move with big hands and getting called. very occasionally the second player may have 99 and you are drawing slim but I think you are up against draws from both.

it wasn't my hand. i was just watching.the first player had the low flush ( Q high) and went all in to protect it from some1 else drawing to a higher flush. the second guy had the 99 in the hole and the guy with the set of 8s folded.it turned out to be great fold but then the argument started as wheter it was correct to fold or not.i thought it was an automatic call or all in to get side pot action even if you thought 1 of them already had the flush but as he said he thought he was behind and it was going to knock him out of the tourney.what say ye

It looked a good fold but in this situation how often are you going to be up against a set of nines? At least if you are up against a made flush you have outs and the odds to hit them. Hector may wake up soon and run a proper maths analysis and then we will see.
