Mac OSX CD Problem

Just started my new job today. The Mac is using OS 10.2 I have a problem with the CD Drive. When I insert a blank CD-R into the drive, it appears on the desktop, but when I get information, it is telling me there is only 38mb on disk! Anyone know about this?

Did u try going into the disk utility thingy that fixes things like this??

do you have roxio toast on the system? ...try burning with that instead of the finder

ditto to formatman....back in the day (10.2) my machine also had finder burning issues... i used toast and everything was hunky dory

Thanks for the replies. However, The only copy of Toast available is for OS 9. Any other suggestions?

got the lite version free about 6 months ago on a cover disc , can send that on if you want , if thats ok by the charter ?
