Whats wrong with my router?

I have a Netgear wireless router. Whenever I am using it, it cuts off and loses the broadband signal for a while. This could be after an hour, two hours, or a few mins, whatever...at all different times of the day. But when I use my USB broadband modem, it works fine and doesnt lose connection at all.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Wireless...havent tried wired (but I didnt think this was necessary as it never loses the wireless connection with the laptop)

Its a Netgear Wireless ADSL Firewall Router, model no.DG834G v2

As far as I know, yes, other pc's would have the same problem. - but im not 100%

I dont know how to check for fimrware updates.

    Thanks v.much
