    Hi,

Me and my GF are planning to get married next year in the states and we have filled out the K1 fiance visa form.Does anyone else know much abut this as the irish immigration office in boston werent very helpfull.
As my gf lives here in dublin and is an american citizen, does she have to go back to the states while the whole process is been done or can she stay in ireland while its been processed. The reason why i ask is we hope to move back to the states early next year.

phone the US embassy in Dublin.
They'll tell you straight out. They're fairly on the ball.

Galway dude, your doing this all wrong. STOP!!!!!

    She is here now? yes?

If so, when does her visa run out?

If her visa is more than 3 months to run, go to a registry office and arrange a wedding for 3 months time, file the notice and get married.

As soon as your married, get yourselves down to the immigration office on the quays and bring both your passports and marriage cert. Your wife will get an automatic permanent visa on the spot which allows her to stay indefinitely.

Keep away from the US embassy as this is none of their concern.

If you were going to stay in Ireland I would go with the suggestion of Bond-007, but since you do want to move back to the states, definitely contact the American Embassy.

As for her going back without you... I'm thinking that she might have to. I have never done this, keep in mind, but I have many friends who have, and the paperwork have to be done from the US. Maybe since she has a visa here it'll be different, I don't know. Your best bet is to go to the Embassy.

When you get back from their offices, try to come on and tell us all what happened, I'm sure there are lots of people who would love the answer to this immigration question.

    Good luck :)

Probably a lot easier to get a spousal visa as opposed to a finace visa.

Expect the 3rd degree from them. They want to know everything about you and your relationship. Ever see the film green card? Don't think you can get a K1 with her in Ireland, thats why I suggested the Spousal visa.

I know this is an old thread but we started the process at the end of september and finally yesterday i got the provisional visa from the US embassy. We leave for the states in early march and we are getting married on april21st.

I got the KI visa so if anyone has questions just ask on this thread or pm me.

How deep was the interrogation about your relationship? How many pics did they want?

They didnt want any pictures. They just asked when and where did we meet and when are we getting married. I had loads of pictures of evidence but they didnt want them even after i offered them.I suppose evidence that we own a house together was proof enough to them. They will know pretty quick if the relationship is fake.
