So yesterday was a glorious day weatherwise and The Mercedes Benz Club had our Summer Club Run to Carlingford. Everyone met at The Coachmans and travelled in convoy with the soft tops dropped up to meet a similar group travelling from the North down.

We had a massive delay in Dundalk where we were stuck in traffic for about 50 minutes and everyone was watching their temp gauges nervously  but none of the cars protested and we all enjoyed the scenery on the peninsula before stopping for a beautifual meal in Fitzpatricks. If any of you are looking for somewhere to go in your Classic then I strongly recommend this trip and especially the above pub. All in all there were 45 people and we all mixed and mingled before making the return journey home. I left a little earlier than most as it vwas getting late and I felt I had eaten significantly into our babysitting credits !!

Anyway we got home safely, car motoring very well indeed and I parked it on the street whilst I carried bits n' bobs inside.

Then I heard it !

I knew exactly what it was by the hollow "thud" !

There was no point in running as I knew the little offender wouldn't have picked himself up off the ground yet !

Yes..............there it was. A nice trio of dents and scratches from a mountain bike on my pristine aluminium door skin !

I wouldn't mind but my car isn't a mint car but that particular panel was !!

    I felt sick !

Luckily the boys father was standing opposite and saw everything so there was no need to investigate what happened or prove it. He has said he will pay for the damage but it's still a PITA !!

I dont know these neighbours terrible well, my daughter plays with theirs, so things are going to be a little strained when I ask him for €300 !!

What can I do !

I suggest you stick a banana up his cars exhaust!

Your neighbour knows the score so he'll cough up - he's got no choice and you can be sooooooo forgiving when you take his money. He'll hate it! :D

    Mike.

    Kill 'em. Kill 'em all!!

Ok maybe a little bit of an overreaction, but tell me - would he have ponied up if you hadn't been there? The only way to be sure it'll never happen again is to kill 'em.

Still waiting for this good weather to improve my mood....

Tell him the damage is €600, but you feel so bad about it that you'll split it with him. Sure you'll be a great fella.

Then delete your original post in case he's a boards member. :)

    LOL :D

I wondered if he'd ever read this hgence I didn't call him a little b4astard .....oooops....
    ....just did !

The guy approached me again last night and apologised again, he's being extremely nice about it so no need to worry. I have a bodyshop man who is doing me a favour and I told him it should've been about €1000 so he's happy. I think he was expecting it to be well up there "vintage Mercedes SL " and all that bu11sh1t going through his head !

The only good think is everyone on the street knows and all kids are banned from my end !

Anyway its going in tomorrow !! :0
