Recycling old sports equipment

I was given a gift of a strider exercise machine recently. Unfortunately, I agreed to take it before seeing it and when my friend dropped it from Limerick up to my apartment in Dublin I could hardly refuse to take it. It's really old - a monstrous metal thing that weighs a tonne - and it DOESN't work.

Obviously I need to get rid of it - but I can't just throw it out with the domestic waste. Does anyone know if there are any companies in Dublin that recycle this type of equipment? (I don't have a car so they would need to be able to collect it.) Or if there are any reputable companies I can contact to dispose of it? (I am nervous of those cowboy waste removers who charge you an arm and a leg to take away your old goods and then dump them illegally once they have taken your money.)

    Any advice is much appreciated!

Councils do household junk collections once or twice a year.

Thanks - I'll give it a shot. (One person's junk is another's treasure after all!)

Thanks for the suggestion Capt'n Midnight - I posted it in the For Sale forum like you suggested, and someone came and collected it last night. :D
