sorry if there is already a thread about this show.

its on channel 142 on sky digital, and its fairly unreal.

basically the renovate peoples houses in 7 days while they send the family on holidays, the stuff they do is unreal. its an ABC (us) show and its for people who really need it.

watched it last nite and it was a special 2 hr episode, it was about this guy who lived in a bad neighbourhood, he was shot by some gang member, by accident, they thought he was some1 else, he survived but is in a wheel chair, paralysed from waist down.
he lived with his mom, dad,fiancee, sister and her three kids. they got a grant to make the house wheelchair accessable but the builder just came, ripped up the place a bit and fecked off. The house was in a state, they were slepping on floors and couches.

anyway the extreme makeover gang arrived, sent them to the bahamas. it was the first time ever that they had to make them stay an extra day cos it took them 8 days to do the renovation.
they built 2 houses, 1 for the parents, sister and her kids. with a pool out the back.
behind that house they built a house for him and his fiance., with a gym for him, and special equipment so he can voice activate anything in the house.
they gave him an engagement ring to give his fiance cos they couldnt afford one, then they flew in her sister and his best friend, all dressed up and with them they brought a tux and a wedding gown, and they had a wedding there that day. they also gave them a cheque for €50,000.

and as he was a big basketball player, he had got a scholorship to uni and had played for a while with them before he got shot, theyhad the college retire his jersey.

it was very sad, and i wouldnt wish what he went through on anyone.

ya i watch this show alot..its pretty amazing...where do they get the money to do it tho...?

apparently they spend a million on each house, but i have seen them run out of money on some occasions where they have to do some fundraising for it.

Quality show. Very American though. They have a lot of drama but it's great that they help people who really need the renovations.

What shop do they use all the the time?
Contractor provides their service for free in lieu of free advertising, only money spent there is ABC on camera crew and the hosts wages.

Show pays for itself in top 10 in US since it started, americans love happy fun tv shows.
