    Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of getting a Zen Micro but I have read alot about how they break very easily/headphones stop working. I'm just wondering what experience you have with them breaking or not? I'm considering a 6GB iPod mini instead as I have never heard of them breaking.

A few glances through this thread here shows a few breakages. I'd pay the extra money and get the I-pod or maybe one of the I-river h10's.

I've had my Zen Micro since December - it's never broken.

However, there have been reports here, as on Creative's forums, Nomadness.net and other places of certain problems with the Zen Micro.

IMO, though this happens with IPods and many other MP3 players - IPods never break? Just take a look at these forums and try those on ipodlounge for example. By no means do IPods not have problems.

I've heard much less when it comes to IRiver to be honest - quite a few people here have them, so I'm sure a lot of them will give you an opinion.

At the end of the day though, don't buy an MP3 player thinking it will never break. Chances are, you will be dissapointed. It's best to decide what you really want, what you budget is and go for what suits you best. The one point to put more research into is a company's warranty/support services as well. At least then, if something does happen to your new pride and joy, you don't have to jump through hoops to get it replaced - this is not the same with all manufacturers so look into opinions on that area too.

My Zen seems to be going okay, except every so often, a message pops up on the screen saying "Playback error..." even though the song plays fine

IPods seem pretty good, but they are expensive, their battery life isn't as good and Apple had a huge problem with batteries that wouldn't hold charge after 2 years...

Normally a firmware upgrade and a full reset using the hidden menu sorts things out, unless its a physical problem. Known problems are the earphone jack getting loose and the rebuilding library screen just staying on.

Nah, the iPod Mini's battery life is reported as 18 hours now as opposed to the Zen Micro's 12.
