Need parts for Austin 1100

Next door neighbour has asked me to search the "interweb" for parts.
    He's restoring an Austin 1100, I think.
He says he needs steering parts. I don't have any other info that that I'm afraid.

Here's a pic of the car I took anyway:

So, any idea where parts could be got?
From Ireland preferably and not online.
    Thanks in advance!

Finding parts, esp in Ireland for a car that famously rotted to oxide dust in 3 winters is going to be nearly imposssible I supect.

    My tips -

    1. Buy & Sell 'Wanted' ad (as camarobill suggests)
    2. Buy new parts from N.I or UK.
    3. I may know where a few 1100's are scrapped/'resting'/stored.....

On the road out of Carlow town to Kilkenny, circa 2-5 miles out, there is a house on the righthand side which has several cars abandonded in the yard. I'm pretty sure there is at least one 1100 among them. (I spotted the cars only because I was driving a van and so was higher up than my usual vehicle).
Though, if you're seeking steering parts, I'd advise sourcing them from N.I/U.K - not worth risking sechondhand parts for safety related items.

    Hope this helps.

    Silvera.

    No worries.

Actually, correction to my post ..........the house is on the lefthand side as you drive out from Carlow.

The 1100 probably uses many of the same parts as the Mini. Might be easier to source Mini parts than 1100 parts :) There are probably forums on the interweb which deal with BMC cars like these and will give advice on where to source parts etc. But I think your neighbour will limit himself badly if he insist that the parts be got in Ireland and not online.

I know a guy who is selling an Austin 1100 in Tralee - got it to restore but then decided he had no time - only thing is he is selling the complete car as one lot and not for parts - if interested I could ask what he is looking for it. :)

    Hi,
I recently acquired an old house in South West Donegal and there is an Austin 1100 rusting into the field. The front and rear windscreens are intact and some side windows. There are also a lot of parts in a shed including the crome grill and number plate.

    Just remembered this thread :o
I was chatting to him this morning and it reminded me of this thread.

Alfasudcrazy, if you could do that it would be great. If you have his contact info I could pass it onto the neighbour. He has a few cars out his back and I guess he could be interested in the whole car. Cheers.

Again cheers for the info. If you want to PM your contact info I'd be happy to pass it onto the neighbour too. Nice one lads. :)
