On some DVDs, it says there are no subtitles but there are closed-captions for the hearing impaired. Does anyone know how to turn these closed-captions on? Apparently it's something in the TV that you activate, but I don't know.
I asked my dad, as he works in a TV store, but he had never heard of closed-captions.

Thanks for any help offered. :)

I get the impression its something you turn on like the language options on a DVD. You cna turn it on once or indefinitely.

But it's not even in the language options. I read there was a closed-caption decoder to do it (it works on some videos, too), but apparently they don't make them anymore and it's inside the TV.

Read the TV manual? :) If you don't have it you can probably get it on the net.

hi closed captions is you press the subtitled button on your dvd control. If there are no subtiles it will not work no matter what you press.
Closed captions was really used when we all used videos and had to buy extra equipment from the National assocition for the deaf at great expense too. Most dvd's have subtiles but then you should always check first before you buy. ok just my thoughts hope it helps c u
