Anyone got any recommendations on somewhere cheap to stay in San Diego for two weeks in July? Preferably near the Pacific Beach / Mission beach area! It seems that there are only around 5 hostels in the place. Which ones would you recommend? And which ones are nearest to Pacific beach?

Maybe if you knew of websites with information on accommodation in San Diego, you could post them aswell!

DO NOT stay in the Banana Bungalow hostel on Pacific Beach!!!!!! Unless you are into cockroaches scuttling across your body during the night... Stay in a motel instead, pack everyone into the one room. Pacific & Mission Beaches are so wonderful, all the beautiful people there...I blended in with ease!

i never had any roaches near me in banana bungalows but it is a little loud if you are the type of person who actually likes to get a little sleep...
there's quite a few motels around the pacific beach area, along mission boulevard just off the beach, as well as tons of vacation rental places, check craigslist.com and go the san diego section, you should find something there...the best bet is to book into a hostel for one night, scope out the area on the first day and decide where you want to stay then....
