Anyone hear know of the great "Pulling teeth" bass solo?

I'm trying to learn it by next week, does anyone haveany advice they could give me on playing it? Or with the taping parts?

Give you advice on learning this? Youd need to be more specific, but all id say for the meantime is use a very good quality stereo or with very good earphones, cos the production is muddy sounding and hard to make out at times.

Apart from that, if you wanna learn it quickly, use tabs and good luck!

The best way is to watch the great man play it himself. Just do a google for Cliff Burton avi, mpeg and wma files and you should find goodies like this . I trust you have the tab?

You could also pick up the Cliff Em All video. Hard to believe it's been almost 20 years since he died :(

Yeah i have the tab(gets crazy in some parts) and i'm getting through. I borrowed cliff 'em all too for the help..it's just the tapping parts i'm having trouble with more than anything else. Tapping is something i never really did before so i don't quite understand it.

its like playing a piano, simply press your fingers down on the fret.

If you want to learn to tap I'd recommend the video: The Art of Tapping. It's a really good introduction to it and a reminder of how bad early 90's fashion was.
When you're tapping these parts (from the tab) hold down the 14th fret with your left hand and tap with the middle finger of your right:

    17p14-19p14-19p14-21p14-19p14

Don't tap straight down on the fret, slightly pull the string towards you to get that pull-off sound. It might help anchoring your right thumb at the top of the neck above the fret for stability.
For the harmonic tapping, push forward on the wah pedal (you have a wah right?) or boost the treble on the bass and tap lightly straight down sharply on the fret to get the harmonic.

    12(19)---10(17)-(10(17))--9(16)---

eg. hold the 12th fret with you left hand and tap the harmonic on the 19th with your right middle finger.

    Hope this helps.

    Mick :)
