    Hey

Does anyone know what the story is with cafe's in Amsterdam? A friend of mine told me that you now need a residents card to avail of these cafes, is that true?

If you are referring to the "Coffee Shops" then no - you don't.

I heard a similar story a few months back to stop tourists getting hash, as far as I know its not the law yet and I hope it doesn't become the law either.

Friday the fifth of august there is a football match versus ajax and PSV Eindhoven in Amsterdam for Dutch Super Cup (same as Charity Shield in England but without a long tradition etc.). If you like football, maybe it's worth a visit ;) And of course support PSV Eindhoven! :D

There are some nice things to visit in Amsterdam and I (and I am not a fan of the city of amsterdam) have to admit that it is a city with a lot of nice buildings etc but don't forget that there are also other cities and villages in the Netherlands that are certainly worth a visit. Train connections from Amsterdam to other cities are very good so travelling to other cities will take not a long time. I think prices for train tickets are reasonable if you compare them with Ierland.

If you want some information or translation from English to Dutch etc, just ask me. I like to help you!

p.s. my apologies for my English, I know it is far from perfect but I try to improve.

go with a friend(s) to avail of these cafes - the eh, coffee is a *lot* stronger over there ;)

AFAIK the proposed law (if it was even proposed) hasn't been introduced yet

the canal trip is pretty good, the only place i've ever seen houses floating on water!!!!

yeah the best place I was in amsterdam was a Jamaican place on the same street was a police station, it had nice seating and was small and a good buzz,if your there for 3+ days make a trip to Utrecht, its only 30min train from the dam and got nice places and better cause its away from the seedy ness of the dam,
The one on the barge near the prison and sarsani are too nice places there. Its also got a bangin hostel strowis.nl a bit fringe but friendly.

There are a lot of cafes up near the red light district, these in my experience and from friends experience (two friends lived there for three years) are to be avoided in comparison to those at the other side of the city. Stuff is better, more varied and cheaper. The cafes up near the red light are tourist orientated. Apologies but cant remember any of the names of the places I was in last time! I would defo be careful of what you try though, it really is a hell of a lot stronger then the cut muck we get here. They will go through what to expect of the various types in the cafe with you. Black Moroccan was one of my favs last time round for a nice mellow, keep it together buzz (really good for listening to music). Bubblegum if you want f*cked up. Mushies are worth a try too.

Bubble is €20-25 a gramme - very, very, expensive - very, very, good - almost a shame to burn it (i suggest cooking with it:))

Yeah, tis a nice smoke :) Didnt chance bringing any home to explore the cooking element though! Black Morrocan has to be my all time favourite though, actually used to get it here now and again years ago. As for the oil stuff that I only tried once, wow. There is a great music store in the city centre (again, cant remember name as most of my last visit is a blur!). Brilliant selection of every type of music and very well priced. Real old fashioned store with steps into various sections all over the place. Spent hours in there last time.

as far as i know they cant bring in that resident only style legislation as its against the EU thang. If they did all EU residents would have to be accepted, as you cant discriminate.

other than that de dampkring was really good when i was there, as was blues brothers, and grey area. Actually grey area has kick ass weed, and kif (defo buy the grey mist)

abraxas is a great place to chill too,

    enjoy

If your into clubbing check out the Power Zone Amsterdams only mega-club. Escape is good too. For unbeatable atmosphere check out The Party Crew Cafe. The music shop is called Fame i think it's beside the Palace. And you must go to the Banana Bar, excellent place. I'm headin back in September.

Thank christ that law won't come in.
