€20 rebuy last night

Good crowd (48 runners I think) for the €20 rebuy in the Fitz last night. I played well before the break and didn't need a rebuy, with the top-up I had almost 7k once we restarted. I was on a table with Fitz dealer Lily and Tom (normally a cash player I think) who were making very ropey moves. At one point before the break Tom went all in pre-flop with 6 3 off! He was called and beaten that time. 15 minutes after the break our table was broken and Lily and I were moved to Doc and Shortstack's table, where both lads were motoring along with very healthy stacks. Lily may have been tournie chip leader at this stage.

I got involved in only two pots during my first ten minutes at the table, in the first I dropped almost 1k to Shortstack who pushed me off of a 10 x x flop (I was holding 10 J s I think) with his bullets, in the second pot I caught the nut flush on the turn and got the opponent to lay down his hand on the river. A few minutes later I was in MP, looked down at AKs, folded to me, raise to 600 (blinds 100 / 200). Folded around to Lily in BB, who calls. Flop comes K 10 7 rainbow (may have been a 9 instead of a 10, not 100% sure). Lily immediately bet 1k. From our play on the other table, I put her on K rag, although 2 pair was a possibility. I definitely thought that she had not flopped a set. I decided to push to represent a monster and take it down there and then - although she was table chip leader, it would cost her another 5.5k to call me, more than half her remaining stack, and I had played very tight on the other crazy table, the only time I went to showdown I had the stone cold nuts, so I had table image I hoped.

Well, she called in an instant! Oops, I thought, even though I still believed I was most likely ahead. She flips K8 o (really should have asked her what she was thinking here), no flush draw for either of us, looks like she needs to catch an 8. Of course, she could just runner runner a straight to win the massive pot... I was still shaking my head getting ready for work this morning!

Anyone know how Doc and Shortstack got on or give a final table report?

    Hi Paul,

Myself and Mike went out at the same time on the last 2 tables. Then there was one to go before the final table. Fun night ended with 3 allin losses and then bust. Oh well, can't win em all.

say hello at the weekend, I'm usually in a world of my own, D.

The normal usage of the phrase "to push someone off" is when the pusher has the worst hand. So JT might push AA off a ten high flop but AA cant push JT off it! Similarly with getting someone to lay their hand down, you usualy use this phrase when it is considered a good thing to have forced a fold.

I know its pedantic but I enjoy having my spelling corrected by shortstack.

    Other than that, good report!

Pedantry is not a bad thing! Much under-appreciated in today's world...:) I like big words myself, my only foible!

I am gobsmacked HJ, not one spelling or grammar mistake, oh but wait.... you forgot the capital 's' on Shortstack. A-, improving. There is probably a better word than 'pusher' too, Paul is no drug dealer :D Maybe 'manouvering off the pot' ? It has a nice ring to it. Keep up the good work and make sure you study hard over the holidays.

As Des points out I made it to the second last table before making one of those 'genius' calls that turned out to be a 'knob-head' call. There is a fine line between 'great play' and '****e play' and I am far to fat to walk it and usually end up erring on the 'bad' side in these situations.

Well done to Kevin Fitzpatrick who won it, he is off to play in the WSOP main event. Best of luck to him, he will need some more A9's beating AK's to win that one!
