you will need motherboard based on the Radeon Xpress 200 CrossFire edition chipset
and you will need to pickup a Crossfire Edition video card

To be quiet honest, what do the 2 cards do that one can't and then again why go to the expense of it.....there are no games out there that require anything beyond the top notch card

Which I realise is dear enough, but adding 2 of the feckers together does nothing for the game as most games do not support SLI or crossfire.....what a waste of money.

Upgrading for upgrading sake....get a faster processor or more Ram....has more benefit in the long run

I agree that buying SLI video cards is total overkill and a complete waste of money, but i don't agree with the above. Upgrading a video card gives a much bigger improvement in speed. And the only place a blistering PC will see any advantage over a 5 year old cludgebox (besides niche purposes) is in games, where the video card will make by far the biggest difference.

check out the benchmarks... 6800 SLI is worse than a single 7800 in quite a few cases...

The reason I will be interested in Crossfire so in a year or two I can buy a second card and gain a fair bump in performance without having to pay for the top of the line cards at the time.

Crossfire is already supported by most 3D applications, unlike SLI that needs special driver profiles for each game.

    Ah, but 2 x 6800GT costs less than 1 x 7800. :)

Just saw the price on komplett. Depressing. :(

Well, komplett are a tad expensive.

Gigabyte GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB PCI-E 2xDVI-I VIVO all for a mere €550. Thats ever so slightly more resonable. :p
