Medium format versus dSLR

The guy who photographed my wedding a good number of years ago
used Medium format. I've seen his work displayed in his window
    (large picture frame enlargements).

To what extent is medium format being displaced by dSLR ?
I've looked at the specs of the D2X from Nikon and the newer
1d(s?) from Canon which are 12-16Mpix and excellent autofocus
    and colour rendition,etc.
Is there still a snobbery out there with regards to Medium format?

Is it fair to say that dSLR (current state of the art , d2x, canon pro models)
will easily compete with MF for all but very specialist work?

just curious, what has snobbery to do with your decision?

A good photograph is a good photo, doesnt matter if it was taken with camera costing €10 or €30k

I use medium format coz I like it, suits the way I work. I use both film and a digital back on it so I've the best of both worlds but this setup would not be ideal for a football match or wildlife etc.

There no ideal camera that suits everyone and every application. Only you know whats right for you. Forget about everyone else and get what suits you.

i think there was an element of snobbery several years ago,but now whether its MF or digital it's a tool,if your system gets the job done well then it's the right choice.
