Has anyone tried using Ripwave on or near the top of Blarney Street?
Is it possible to get reception, how reliable is it?

I checked the coverage map, and I'm just outside it for Ripwave. I wonder are those coverage maps accurate, is there anyway of boosing the recpetion of the Ripwave unit? Do they support external antennas does anyone know?

only suggestion would to be give a friends address within the coverage map and then bring the box to you location to test

Not sure what restrictions Irish Broadband put on this but I presume the internal IP of the BOX is locked and has a account number of some sort

I ordered it anyway, if it works it works, if it doesnt it doesnt, I can always return it. From the researchI've done it appears that the external ariel connector is of the MCX format. A quick google showed this to be the connection type used for external GPS aerials, surely one of these aerials will not work with the Ripwave unit?

Dont get it. I had it for two months and I can honestly say I would rather use dial-up.

Did you get it in Cork City, if so were you far from City Hall (I believe this is where the base station is located)?
