Im in the middle of laois and have a good 16mb satellite connection, been using it for a while now and have loads of bandwith to spare! At the moment i only have an old 3 com AP in the 2.4 range with 5 pcz connected and a network storage server with 160gb of movies, music, videos, ebooks and a lot of software and other stuff, with my bb been one way i can't use my ftp server so i can;t shate as easy as i'd like so im thinking a wlan upgrade might be the answer, but how to broadcast with a meaningfull signal, safely, cheaply and make contact with othe like minded people.
After a lot of reading and surfing i found a site http://www.wwc.edu/~frohro/Airport/Primestar/Primestar.html that gave me an idea based some what on the pringles/coffye tin theory only this time with a DIY satellite dish and empty can to replace the lnb with a broadcast signal of over 10miles even with 802.11b hardware, im bored with what im doing with the hardware that i have when i know its capable of so much more plus you learn by doing, especially when it comes to networks and computers..........

If you want to share it to all people around you you'll want an omni-direction antenna rather than just a directional satellite dish.

I was looking into this a while back and got together a good library of links on it.... Pity i wiped them all :(. It's pretty annoying looking around through sites with info on doing this sort of thing on the cheap, theyre not the most reliable with lots of dead links and all that.

You might want to try del.icio.us for some info on it

I vote for a site ban. Seems to be warez monkeying around.

Don't you have to prove that before you start baning people?

    nope
you don't have to prove anything

unless he's created all the movies etc, its warez and its not allowed

Well, I think Mutant_Fruit is going on all of Aidan's posts... still bans, etc are up to the mods and I'm sure they'll intervene when and if needed.

Still, isn't there a rule about posting the same thread in multiple forums? This is already in Comms and is bigger, though Aidan has posted most replies there anyway...

I've been on his ftp server and it aint warez! its an ftp server like any other and its full of stuff with no ratio and IF you want you can download IF you want you can visit or not its up to you but it ain't warez cos i've been leeching from it all day

Well, he's already been banned from the broadband forum for linking his FTP which was full of warez. Now, unless his FTP has changed recently, he's still warez monkeying around.

If thats not proof enough, PM Giblet and look at this thread: http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=272825

And setting up a second account to defend your first account ISN'T really a good way to go about getting a good reputation in boards. I wouldn't be half surprised if Paul Murphy and Mr Sinnott are either good friends, or they're the same person.

EDIT: So he has 160gb of personally written e-books, personally written/composed music, videos he shot/edited and mastered himself? Fair play to him. But i think my link proves your talking ****.
