Broken iPod

Sorry if this is a repeat thread, but having gone back a page or two, I don't think it is.

My iPod is broke the old fashioned way. To cut a loing story short, it was in my back pocket, I ended up on my arse, and it's f*cked. The ink is coming out from under the screen (although the screen's not actually smashed or cracked), the screen display is gone altogether (or at least I'm assuming it is). The two sides of the casing are beginning to come apart too, but only slightly; it hasn't come apart fully or even nearly fully. The frustrating thing is that it actually plays music; but I'm f*cked if I'm gonna remember the wheel/button patterns.

Took it to the O2 shop on Grafton St, they send them off to Apple, but only the ones bought in there. Mine certainly wasn't bought in there, and to cut another long story short, I've no receipt for it.

Ideas? Liking the look of the new 20gb Sony player, but would rather avoid spending another €250. :(

apple or hp dont replace or fix cracked screens. on ebay you could get a new 30gb iPod Photo for $300 or €250 and $25 shipping.

    eg. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=104137&item=5783995438&rd=1

or you could always get that sony yoke:

Alot of people are afraid of using ebay. but after using it for about 2 years and buying 17 things from all over the world ive have only had trouble with one seller and it was nothing major.
    Good Luck!:)

A friend of mine fecked his iPod aswell, not as bad as yours though. He had it bought in Wall Mart in the states and decided to go to the apple shop in town(or possible another one, but deffinatly in ireland). They explained that there is a world-wide guarantee on the iPods and sent it off to apple and it was fixed for him. He was still in the warrenty period though but maybe you will luck out. Anyway good luck.
