Change in job practices

    Hi

I work for a service based company in Bray as a field engineer. I drive around from job to job about Dublin usually but, here's the tricky bit, I live in Mullingar. As has been with my company since I moved back down to the "sticks" I pay them 6euro's a day contributing to the diesel, wear and tear etc. The company, as I joined, have a policy of paying travel time when down the country, so when I moved back to Mullingar if I was heading anywhere around ie Cavan Longford Portlaoise I always charge from the time I leave my house to be on-site at 9am. Now after 3 years of doing this, my bosses have decided that because I don't have to drive to Dublin one morning (hour and half) cos I'm heading to Longford (forty mins) I shouldn't be claiming overtime for that forty mins. They said they don't want to pay me for "sleeping in!!"
One of my friends said that even though this is not in my contract the fact that they have being paying me the overtime up ontill now, means something and if they try to change it I can cite some Employment Act ****e.

Has anyone had any of these problems or any advice please help.

    Thanks
    Keithmur
