Well I wont be paying for the fee based version, firstly I dont have a credit card, secondly it probably wouldn't be an enjoyable game because of the lack of players who I'd say would be willing to pay, also the ones who would pay would probably be the best players anyway. thirdly, if they do bring enhanced features like ship animations you'll want to have broadband of some sort, and we all know that's not going to be widespread anytime soon at a decent price.

Well there will still be a free game BUT free players will most likly be fodder for the fee payers. By the time you have a page loaded (2 hours) you have been roided twice by some guy in a Merc and another with a pin stripe suit. smile.gif

Spinner says In a not too distant future, we will set up a separate universe of Planetarion, that indeed will cost a small fee to play. The reason for this is quite simple, having just a free version does not make us able to provide the service you want and deserve. This means, there will be both a free version, and a special edition to play for those who will pay for it. Yes, there will be a difference between the two, in fact, several. We have not decided on all details of it yet, but we have a list of IDEAS which so far includes these items and more:
- Guaranteed page-speed and ticker speed (as we will have the money to do so!)
- Perhaps a faster ticker (two ticks an hour, maybe 3?) for more action if wanted?
- Jazzed up design with perhaps elements of broadband utilization where wanted (small ship animations, sound, music, combat visualization)?
- Some new features here and there (-:
- Prioritised support and backup
- Phat Prizes
- Banner-free pages
- Lots more

A lot of these do sound really good and if i had a pc at home worth talking about i might even join it. then you have to think no farms but then just think u pay x amount and on first week ur hammered in to the ground and so on. has its draw backs.

Well I doubt it will be more than a tenner as the fee, com'n now
I will most likely be signing up to the fee, faster tick's I like the sound of that, and more reset's, it's very encourging
I will sign up to both the free and fee one smile.gif

If its less than £20 id probally pay too, but would you have to pay at every reset or what? If the resets are rather frequent that would be bad....

alot of ppl complain about the game becoming fee based, but considering all the time and effort the designers have put into it, as well as the fact that it has become their full time job, they may as well get something for their work, The only problem I see is that it will substantially reduce the audience, as most of the players are most likely kids with no credit cards, and very few of them would be allowed borrow one from mom and dad. If you really enjoy the game, and are the sort of person who puts in the time and effort many ppl do, paying around £10 a round isn't really all that bad tbh.

If rounds are 3 times as fast then £10 every two months? hmm, maybe a once a year payment would be better?

I wouldn't mind paying a small amound. $10 or $15 would be fine for me.
But a free galaxy is needed for new players to start. People who have played before would get much more value for money.

This rumour about paying for extra resources though... Thats so ****. I'd hate to be playing against some rich kid tosspot who drops a fifty everytime he/she wants a big fleet.

think of it from their pov:
Fewer players means more bandwidth and cpu time for other the paying people.

And they get money!

there dont seem to be any down sides from their pov.
