Anything happening with "Chorus TV"?

The BCI has details on Chorus being given a ten year contract to provide a cable and MMDS Irish-content channel to replace Chorus Sports, with documentaries, etc... had a quick look back here, didn't see any mention of it

This was announced just around the time of the NTL deal, is there any chance it'll go ahead now? If so, is it likely to end up on NTL franchises also

Its interesting to think that, what, 30 years after it started here?, we may finally see the first Irish "cable TV" channel. Although I don't hope for much, UKTV, Bravo, Trouble (when it was TCC), etc all started as cable TV channels owned by their networks.

There have been Irish cable channels before - the NTL local channels being an example as well as Chorus Sports. There is also a community channel in Navan. I suppose the first widely available and marketed cable channel would be Setanta Sports.

Local channels don't really count, though... we had one here in Maynooth when it was Dunne Electrical doing the cable, pre-Chorus. I think every area has had one at some stage.

Did Setanta start on cable, or co-launch on satellite? Its not a general purpose channel either way...

Setanta Sports Ireland launched on NTL and Sky simultaneously.
