It'll be in my house next monday! I've killed myself to get this, and it's gonna be so worth it. 45 hour weeks for the last 3, and wiping my bank balance. Already drooling! :D

  • got this on friday, it plays amazingly! Couldn't post up pics as i had no camera. the finish is very different from the one on the site, the one on ishibashi needs more light. I've played it so much that i've hurt my wrist so now i cant play for a couple of days :(

    Here it is anyway!

Schweet. Not my cupáb tae really but its a lovely guitar

  • when i worked out the final price i almost shat myself. Got that lovely case with it too. Total i paid (it came through customs without a hitch, i have no idea how it could have! you should see the box it came in) was 106,000 japaneese yen.
    which rounds off at €795.
    Broke down as;
    Guitar €540
    Case €120
    Shipping €135.

Looking at a similar guitar in Ireland, with same hardcase would have been something like this.
Guitar- €1280 (musickmaker don't have any other irish shops to compare it with)
    Hard Case - €160

    Irish Total = €1440
    Japanese total = €795

    Crazy.

That is ****ing nice, Emmet! I saved myself around 300 buying my Ibanez from guitarbargains.com compared to other places. I'm happy :)

  • if i had have bought 2 guitars from there, it would have meant that i could have bought a third for the price ot two here, and still have plenty of change left over.

3 japaneese guitars for teh price of 2 irish ones.

    Ishibashi for life!

I was very tempted by the J Customs on Ishibashi, I must say. Oh well, I doubt I'll have any money to get any of those any time soon.

    Wow very nice...

Im really interested to hear how you got on dealing with ishibashi, I was thinking of getting a J custom from them, but couldnt make head nor tails of their website..

How long did it take to get over here?
Also, did you have to pay any import duty or anything?

Myself and Feylya have both ordered from them before without any problems, and they accept payment via paypal, so all is well. Shipping VIA UPS meant my guitar got to me in 2 working days. Well worth it.

Thats excellent. Thoman have the Jem for like 2400 (and I thought they were cheap), and i was afraid of getting stung by customs if I got one from the states (having 21% thrown onto the price cuts away at a lot of the savings sometimes).

Christ, I was even going to buy a 2nd hand Jem for close to that price recently..

Thanks for that tip man... :D

I was looking at a UV777 for €1500 (€2050 on Thomann) on there before I decided to go for the RG1527 at a mere €660(€935 on Thomann), there's definetly some amazing prices there, and definetly preferable to buying from the States.

i used the pictures to navigate the site, found the guitar i wanted and then e-mailed ishibashi asking for a price incluidng shipping. Got an e-mail back, prices and methods for payment.
A link to a secure page for entering credit card details and you also had to reply to the e-mail with shipping details etc.
I ordered on a saturday morning, and it was here the next friday. Mine got through customs without a bother, so i got off scot free. The delivery guy (EMS) told me that i was one lucky ****er cause it was blatantly obvious what it was!

Hmm...theyve no Jems in stock, could be as long as a month before they get them...bummer.

And about emmets posts....i guess you got lucky getting through customs without paying duty...does anyone else have any experience of this? I wonder if you DO get stung, do they charge your 21% on the cost price, or the Irish value...cos if I got a lovely J custom from ishibahsi, f**k knows what the Irish value would be... Any one any comments?

Happened to me too - 150euro saved!

On another note: you and I have a mutual friend in the form of Iain B.

He was telling me about a friend who got an interesting Tele, and following a brief discussion it turned out to be you. It's a small world.

VAt and duty on the Total cost (ie the total cost shown on the paperwork which equals cost of guitar plus cost of shipping plus cost of insurance plus cost of anything else that may be on teh paperwork)

    (entering Eamonn Dunphy-style rant mode)
Its ****ing totally mad. How the **** can you inport shipping?, how can you import insurance?. Only a small proportion of the ****ing shipping and insurance even happens in this poxy country.......
The only thing madder is that its probably still way cheaper than buying the same thing in a shop in Ireland. Not that that is any excuse for our rip-off government.
