That's the exact same price as a couple of weeks ago.
It has a 120 HD if I remember correctly.
Would have thought they might have lowered it?
    Anybody buy it last time?
    If so how is it?

is it a bit much for a dvd recorder with hd ?

Well, if PADDYPOKER is right and the HD is 120GB, it's not really too bad a price.
Richer Sounds doing a Panasonic with 80GB HD here at the same price.

Pixmania doing a Pioneer with 80GB HD for €405 here.
Also doing a Mustek 80 GB HD for €319 here.
And a Sony with 160 GB HD for €515 here.

    Not sure of postage though.

    Yep
    It's a Targa DRH-5000, 120HD and it was 449.00 Euro about 2 months ago.

Was looking in DID at the w/e and they have the following

Sony with 80 HD for 599 Euro
Philips with 80 HD for 499 Euro

LG Dual (DR+ and DR- recording) for 299 Euro
Sony (210) Dual DR+ and DR- recording for 349 Euro

JVC (Ram, something 10 model) for 299
    Samsung (Ram) for 299 Euro
    Panasonic (Ram) 350 Euro

    Dear compared to Richer.

That's crazy money. I got my 160GB Toshiba from the UK from about €520 a couple of months ago. Fantastic piece of kit, any HD recorder that does 'timeslip' recording is well worth owning. You'll never get pi$$ed off watching a movie on UTV again :D

    Komplett have
    80GB for 460
    200GB for 600
Have the advantage that they have an ethernet port as well for connecting to a network.

There was some details on the last offer on the "Home Entertainment" Forum but I can't seem to find it now?

id guess that these things use 3.5" ide drives?
youd probably be just as well getting the cheap one with 80gig drive nd sticking a massive hard drive in yourself

looks to be a decent machine, this thread is exactly what I'm looking for. I guess they all do the same (ish), so I guess which is easiest to use and which has the best quality.

Buying a cheaper machine with an 80gig and slapping in a 250gig sounds like a good idea... if it works. I hope to purchase one this weekend or next weekend. So far the only recommendation is the Tosh (great brand). Divx would be nice but not essential. The komplett machines , the kiss ones deffo play divx, a friend has a cheaper (non hd, non dvd recoder) one and he says it plays almost all his divx collection.

Take a look at www.avforums.com for more info on the various DVD/HD recorders available to you. IIRC, it's not straightforward swapping the HDs in them because of the way they're formatted but you should find more info there.

Edit: Sniipe, remember that if you're going to buy a recorder from abroad you should check that it will work here. I know that some tvs/dvd recorders/vhs machines that are bought in the UK won't tune in all the channels that NTL broadcast for instance. Something to do with NTL/Chorus here broadcasting on UHF and VHF or something like that (not too sure to be honest).

The Kiss recorders look great but are HD recorders without DVD recording functionality built in from what I can tell. That may be fine for you, I know that I've found that I record on the HD and then delete mostly. I only backup to DVD if it's something I really want to keep.

didn't realise the kiss players had no recorder in them. Thanks for the advise on NTL/Chorus, I'll keep that in mind!
