All of Antes Up is now live. There is still a lot of content to be added but that will be done over time. Enjoy.

Any suggestions - fire at will below this post. Cosmetically it will stay as it is for the near future as our Space Monkey techie whizz kid is going accross the big pond in a few hours. I am just the typist gimp.

A great job, Tom and Mike... hurry up with the player profiles, though!

Agree with Hector on the Scott Gray interview, very good. One question here, though, what GAA jersey is he wearing in the first couple of pics... It looks like Donegal, but I thought Scott was a Dub?

Thats an Fai Republic of Ireland team jersey

I'd say he's definately not a Dub, he's got a northern accent. Im not sure if Padraig Parkinson comes from the same place but they have the very same accent.

Don't think it is Donegal, possibly a club jersey?

Scott is not from Dublin originally, he grew up just outside Dundalk. I wouldn't have a clue which jersey it is being only part Irish! I have emailed Scott for the answer though and will let you know!

    To settle the jersy debate:

"That jersey is an Ireland 2002 world cup jersey and the white one at the final table is just the white version. The Gaa jersey that I have on under the denim jacket is my local clubs jersey (Castleblayney Faughs),that was the one I wanted to wear in the final but I bottled it and wore it on the second last day thinking I might not make it to the final!" - Scott Gray

    Chips tricks are class!
Being the noob that I am at them I can nearly 'master' 4 chips in each stack atm for the simple shuffle.

Just a small thing but in your tournament's section you dont have Oscars new 30 Euro freezeout

Is that a regular thing now? I just robbed what was on the fitz's website. Merrion and pokerevents schedule is now up along with a couple of other one off events.

Looks like a Castleblaney GAA jersey, assuming that says Declen Loughman Sports as the sponsor, Gwan teh Faughs.

Blaney(Co.Monaghan) is around 20mins from Dundalk

    Good site

On my pc indows media player only plays the sound of the chip tricks but not the visual clips. I just got upgraded to XP yesterday. Maybe i need to install something to view the clips any ideas?.

you prob need a codec. you should get a message telling you that you cant run it when you try, just follow the clicks and get to the media player codec download page!

Just read DeVore's ethical, moral, forthright, frank, genuine article on Antes Up.

Very Good it was especially the honesty on some of his ethical/moral issues.
Gutsy to put that part in writing.

Thanks Divers but i looked into that and no messages or anything. So i looked into the codecs area in the options and 'automatically download codecs' was ticked. It plays old mpegs with picture and sound but not these chip tricks from the internet just the sound of the chip tricks.

Thanks, never thought of it as "gutsy" to be honest. Its just the way I feel about certain things and some trepidation about that side of Vegas. I'm no prude, and I'd class myself as a "libertarian" but I cant say it hasnt weighed on my mind occasionally.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, can you believe that I still get worried about putting stuff I write up online after 5 years of running this site :):)

    Tom,

From reading your last entry on your blog I have come to the conclusion that you will be fine in Vegas, but you would not last a few minutes in my house....you sure dont like kids:D

  • Business & Finance Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 32,387 Mod ✭✭✭✭DeVore

I love kids. I cant stand the parents who let them run around and do anything they feel like doing. I'm particularly intolerant when its 10am and I havent slept in 24 hours! :)

I just couldnt dig up a better word than gutsy but i tried :)
That piece was just honest in that you didnt compromise your thoughts where some might not chance imparting same thoughts to others.
It brings a line from a scene from 'Biloxi Blues' to mind where Epstein says to Jerome something like.."Once you start compromising your thoughts as a writer, youre a candidate for mediocrity".

I hope to write more poker-free stuff in my blog rather then "And then he hit an Ace on the river" sort of stuff. We'll keep that for the Latest News area....
