Leaving work email

I'm leaving my job soon and its a tradition to send a goodbye email around the office. Generally they're the usual case of "Sorry to be going, had fun, blah blah, lets go drink here, bye" but I'd like to do something a bit different, if only just so that more people come to the pub!

I remember a year or two ago there was a thread on this subject but I haven't been able to find it since, so I'm going to ask myself, anyone got any ideas for going away emails I can nick? :)

Instead of going away emails, I decided to leave my mark in a very odd way (but memorable). I printed out and laminated loads of pictures of camels, and posted them all around the office block. Everywhere anyone went, they saw camels. It took weeks to find and take them all down...

something along the lines of "free drinks in the pub afterwards"

when they turn up looking for free drink, just say. "sorry. i should've made that a bit clearer... free drinks for ME and it's your round, pal"

Within the space of a month two employees had sent a leaving mail to every employee within Ireland ( this is a large US multinational with many sites so its a lot of people).

Both mails lambasted management and the company attitude towards employee rights calling certain management monkees even going so far as to calling their practices illegal.

Thing is both employees were hard working and model employees they were not let go or fired so they were not cranks.

Anyways, i wouldnt suggest doing the same, I think the company was trying to start legal proceedings against the two guys.

You could always write something along the lines of:

"I am off to Bali for two months to have gender re-assignment surgery and break out of this prison male body I've been in for XX years. Upon my return, you are requested to call me Judy at all times".

Not sure how it will work for attracting people to the pub though :D .

    Hmmm you could have tried

Due to advice from the Department of Infectious Diseases in "local hospital name here" I am being quarantined for the next 6 months.

It has been great working with you all and if you notice a rash please contact Dr. XXXX on 999-9999.

Personally I prefer the "red dwarf" goodbye message. "Well it is time me for to go. Over the time we have worked together I have come to think of you all as..... people I have met."

this was the best one i ever read~~~

    Hi,
On the occasion of my departure from the ***********,I wish to record my appreciation of the many expressions of goodwill received by me in recent days. Some of these have been couched in cryptic terms, some have been cheerfully defamatory, some have been anatomically improbable, but all have been received in the spirit in which they were intended. In accordance with tradition,I have arranged for a few drinks to be served at McTorcaill's Bar in Tara Street, after work on Thursday,30 June, and all staff members of good character are invited to attend. In particular,I would hope that some of the vibrant young people who have joined us in recent years will attend. I appreciate that they may have a particular view of persons of my vintage (1970,originally drinking well, now badly corked,no exceptions)and many will know me by sight,if at all (elderly gentleman, grey hair, teeth falling out, anxiously clutching zimmer frame,hi,grandad, says she sweetly, let you out of the nursing home for the day,did they? )but because we of pensionable age begin to wilt and droop about 9 pm ,our thoughts turning to the slippers and the bed-time cocoa,it would be great to have some young blood present to keep the action going until closing time, at least. I would stress that it is not intended that this will be an occasion for the attendance only of those who hold me in high esteem (a telephone kiosk would suffice for thar purpose):there will be no speeches,no ceremony,no sad friend racking his brains thinking of something favourable to say about me that everyone present will not know to be enirely untrue, but rather an evening of fun and laughter for all staff who are able to attend, to be enjoyed as much by those who are indifferent to **********'s departure as by those who may feel emotions ranging from mild regret to milder regret. McTorcaills pub is located on the right hand side of Tara Street, walking from bridge, just beyond vacant site.Entrance to ** reserved area at ground floor level is through door nearest bridge, with green painted surround
See you then,or`if not on some other occasion Best wishes to all and may any clouds threatening on the Y-front lift and dissipate

    Toodle pip,
    *** ***********!
