    Hey,

My brother wants a new desktop as he has goten into video editing and our pc is just not up to the task.

What are the things that video editing needs most in a computer and what hardware parts would you reccommend.

a good pentium4 is a must, stick to intel over amd, large screen with a high resolution helps, a good fast (and more importantly large) harddrive will help, at least a gig of ram, you needn't have a top notch gfx card, so you can save money there

Using 2 monitors is very convienant when video editing.

Depends on where he's sourcing the video from, he may need a graphics card with analogue inputs/outputs. If it's purely for digital editing, a firewire connection of any description should be fine.
Dual-monitor is definitely a big advantage (try to get two matching monitors, flatscreen if at all possible), as is a massive hard-drive.
