    Do you use MS Access.

Asl far as i know that is the main difference.

There is no difference in Word or Excel

Sparky: it's not - XP is Office 2002.

dbnavan: there's not a lot of difference between 2000 and XP. As Shane said Access is the major difference. The rest is just cosmetic and bugfixes. If your current installation is working ok then I'd leave it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

Whichever version of word you use, go into
    Tools,
    Options,
    Save,
Always create backup copy (the default on every other WP for the last 20 years /minirant)
Don't use features since Word 97

Otherwise your document may not be usable by people with older versions of word. users of www.openoffice.org and newer versions of word should be ok.

MsAccess - don't get me started, You can take it as a general rule that ALL versions of Access have imcompatibilites with other version AND that saving as a previous version fails far to often. There are lots of Technet articles on how to have multiple versions of access running at the same time.
