Sorry don't have the TV - I have the 2405FPW 24" monitor though and I use it as a TV as well, on my Media Center PC.

As always, it boils down to what you want:

Yes, the TV does do picture-in-picture and stuff like that, but the resolution is only 1280 x 768. Now this is great for a TV (your bog standard TV is typically around 640 x 480 to 800 x 600) but not so good for a PC monitor. If you shop around, you'll see that even the cheapest 17" LCD, does a native resolution of 1280 x 1024.

On the other hand, the 19" monitor runs 1280 x 1024 but of course, it's only a monitor... If you want to watch TV on it, you need a TV tuner in your PC and the PC needs to be on all the time....

If you have around €600 to spend (the TV's price) why don't you consider the 20" 2005FPW Widescreen LCD monitor? It's on special for €566.64 right now.

It does an awesome 1680 x 1050 resolution, supports DVI, composite, S-Video inputs and is a beautiful widescreen.

Of course, you still need a TV tuner in the PC or, you can hook a VCR up to the composite or S-Video input and feed a TV signal into it without the PC. It also supports picture-in-picture, picture-by-picture, etc. Finally, you also get a 4 port USB hub thrown in....

So, do you see yourself using a PC monitor as a TV (get the 2005FPW then) or using your TV as the PC monitor (get the LCD TV)?

    Thx J-blk

I will either go for the 19" ultra sharp monitor or the 20" widescreen you have listed.
And use the Hauppage 150 pvr card to watch tv and record digital tv to my hard drive etc.It will be used mainly as a monitor but handy to watch tv when poxy big brother/coronation street is on down-stairs !!!!
    Sounds like a good set-up.

I can get the 20" widescreen at dell for €526 (with a company discount)
and the capture card on ebay for about €50.

    Thanks for the input......

No worries - the monitor is a good buy for the money IMO. Plently of inputs, quality display - you wouldn't get that kind of use out of the LCD TV.

The Hauppauge PVR 150 is a great buy too as far as I know. I have the PVR 250 and it's absolute class - the 150 is actually the successor to the 250 (go figure on the model numbers Hauppauge uses) and reviews on it put it on a par with the 250...

    Happy viewing!
