Irish channels in the UK

I've recently moved to the UK and am going a little crazy due to the awful British television. Am thinking of getting a Sky package but what I really want is to get the Irish channels.

Have seen this website http://www.digicams-uk.com/prod387.htm and am wondering if anyone has ever heard of it. I hate the idea of paying up front as it is obviously not legal. Plus it's a silly amount of money as you still have to pay sky everymonth.

I have also seen this http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=224552
If I understand it right, it means I would have to sign up to sky at say my parents address, then have them send the card to me and swap that in a sky box here. Anybody done this? It seems like a lot of effort.

EU laws say you are allowed to receive all services in all countries.
    SKY say it's geographical

Technically it can only be done with an Irish card. £199 per year is a lot more than an Irish person would have to pay for an entry level card. Someone in Ireland might prefer a UK card because they could see ITN , C4 and C5 with it.

But look at the forums and don't do anything illegal ( Which law takes precident ? does EU law apply or Irish law 'cos it's an irish card or UK law cos you are in the Uk or Luxemburg law because SKY are not registered in UK or Ireland )

The only sensible way to do it.
You would need the box that the card is associated with to get the channels, so the box and card would need to be brought to the UK.

As far as illegality goes, the only thing you need worry about is that it could/would be contrary to the terms of the sky contract.

It is not contrary to any criminal laws, the worst that could happen is for sky to cancel your subscription.

    Which law takes precident ?
EU law takes precident over all, then it's Constitution > Legislation > Common Law. Plus, since he'd be in the UK, Irish laws wouldn't apply as the jurisdiction is limited to the country.

    Just a Radio Service

    http://www.satelliteonline.co.uk/sky_abroad.htm

    From what I gather.

I always thought that all of the Irish output on each of the 4 stations should be put on one channel for Sat.

    e.g.

    7-10 Ireland AM
10-12 Ireland Gold (Glenroe and other series)
12-13 Repeats of The Restraunt, Property Game, Paisean Faisean etc
    13 - 13:30 RTE NEWS @ 1
    13:30 - 14 Fair City/Ros Na Run
    14-15 The Afternoon Show
15-17 The Den (Irish Childrens Programms only)
    17-17:30 The Big Bite
    17:30 TV3 News
    18:00 Six One
    19:00 Nuacht TG4
19:30 As RTE ONE except for EastEnders to be replaced by RTE 2/TV3/TG4 shows
    21:00 RTE News
21:30 As RTE ONE except for US shows to be replaced by RTE 2/TV3/TG4 shows
24:00 - 7:00 REPEATS of Prime Time for other Countries eg New Zealand

I know it sound better then what the current do. lol :D

They should never have closed down Tara TV. It was RTE's only channel aimed at UK audience. I know RTE didn't wholly own it but pulling their material (or pricing it out of reach for Tara execs) was a poor move IMO. I had thought at the time that RTE had a channel up their sleeves to replace it but it seems not.
