Problems getting past BIOS screen

    I just bought the following;

    AMD 64 3500 (Venice)
    2Gb matched PC3200
    Abit AV8

to go with the following that I already had

    2 * WD 80Gb IDE disks
    Radeon 9800 Pro
    Audigy Platinum Pro

Anyway, when all was plugged in and ready to go, it would only boot to the motherboard logo screen, and wouldn't accept any keyboard input. I tried removing all hardware expect for the memory, processor, and video card, but got nowhere. I even tried removing the motherboard from the system and running it out of the case, but that still doesn't get me anywhere.

It's only new equipment so I can send it back if it's the problem, though the fact that it's getting somewhere seems like the hardware might be ok. Has anyone come across anything like this before?

    Cheers,

    Si.

have you tried pressing F2 or Delete when you get to the mainboard logo to enter bios config?

Then from there set harddrive to boot from maybe?

There has been quite alot of these problem's recently with using Venice core's On Asus Motherboards. Teh BIOS's cannot accept them due to teh fact it need's flashing as the BIOS was probably designed or released before teh Venice core. More then likely it need's a BIOS flash to the latest Version.

Try taknig this 1 over to the http://forums.amd.com forums. Here's a direct link to a similar problem. Try taking a read over it And getting some general tips, Linky : http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=49135 << And yes that is me.

    Hope it help's you.

Also... U might want to take out some RAm ... Strip system to bare minimum and try then.. Try 1 Stick of RAM on Slot 3 ( blue Slot ) if you have the motherboard i am thinking of.

Thanks for the tips. I was going to try some of the things suggested in that thread, but now the machine won't even turn on. I've been in touch with Komplett and they'll take the motherboard, processor, and memory back as an RMA, test the lot, and replaced whatever is faulty, which is probably my best option.

Disappointed, but I've waited long enough for these parts that I don't really mind waiting another week or two.

    Cheers!
