Good GAA bets

Was wondering if anyone had any interesting bets or accumulators for upcoming matches?

One I've made purely with my heart and not my head is Cavan at 5-1 to beat Tyrone. I don't expect them to and normally don't bet on teams I support but thought it was worth a flutter.

My bet of the week though is a 4 way accumulator with Meath to beat Antrim (1-4), Monaghan to beat London (1-33), Offaly to beat Carlow (1-4) and Westmeath to beat Tipperary (1-16).

Crap odds individually but a fiver on that accumulator gives back 3.85 profit. Not bad for a bet which I think cannot be unsuccessful.

Fermanagh away to down. I think its: fermanagh +1pt 10/11. I've backed them to win the all Ireland at 100/1 considering that they were one of the best teams of 04! I don't think they'll win the all ireland but I'm just looking to hedge.

Got this off a reliable source off a different forum!!! I agree with the bankers have a few other accumaloters for this weekend!! I reckon i'll be up €150 if Meath and Tryone both win on a handycap!!! Neway this guy knows his ****!!!

First a preview of the matches I few as “bankers” – I would suggest a accy of them all, or sticking them in with some other soccer/tennis bets etc.

    Mayo 2/9 vs Roscommon
Mayo should be comfortable victors here IMO. Mayo are reigning Connaught Champions, and All-Ireland runners up, while Roscommon are extremely lucky to have avoided what would have been a ridiculous defeat at the hands of London in the last round.

Roscommon are not playing as well as they have in the previous couple of years, which is the main reason IMO that Mayo are not something like 1/10. Roscommon are a poorly disciplined side that give away a lot of frees in scoreable positions – while Mayo are very good at the short passing game. This will more than likely result in Roscommon getting impatient and fowling Mayo repeadely, especially if they are behind going into the second half.

In short Mayo have better players, quality and discipline than Roscommon and should end up easy enough winners here.

Pick – Mayo to win 2/9 Confidence 10/10

    Louth 4/7 vs Waterford
Both of these sides are very poor – but Louth are definitely the better of the two no doubt about it. Louth played poorly vs Offaly in their 1st round exit from the Leinster Championship, but in the previous couple of years have produced good displays, albeit close loosing ones vs decent teams such as Kildare, that would suggest that if they play their regular game they should do the job over Waterford, who really are terrible – worst county in the Championship, I’d say London are probably better too. Waterford have not won or gone close in a Championship game in as long as I can remember, and lost by 5 or 6 point to another very weak G.Footie team in Clare in their first round match – though these two never really make the tv, due to the fact that they are two of the poorest teams.

Pick – Louth to win 4/7 Confidence 9/10

    Tipperary vs Westmeath 1/10
Poor price but safe – and I’ll add in into the accumulator. Tipperary have one star player and from what I’m reading he is going to play but is still recovering of a pulled muscle. Westmeath won Leinster last year and have a star man up front in Dolan – he will ensure that Westmeath outscore Tipperary. Hard to analyses this one the gulf in class is their and Westmeath are likely to want to advance here, given the fact they won their 1st Leinster last year and got a taste for what the Championship later stages has to offer.

Pick – Westmeath to win 10/10 Confidence 10/10

    Antrim vs Meath 1/4
Another one I’m happy to take – also on Saturday. Meath played very well and their big games players, such a Geraghty in particular played extremely well. Meath look fired up and committed this season, and will be very surprised if they exit at the hands of Antrim, who lost after a replay vs Cavan (Cavan are not great and were missing almost half their team). If Meath show the class, determination and good front play they exhibited against a very strong Dublin team in the Leinster Championship they will beat Antrim well – if they don’t they will still win by a couple of points IMO – to my knowledge they have a full team, I’ll check that if I get a chance.

Pick – Meath to win 1/4 Confidence 10/10

    Tyrone 2/9 vs Cavan
Tyrone have the easy side of the draw in the Ulster, avoiding Armagh and Donegal, the other two threats to them lifting the Ulster Championship. Cavan needed a replay to get past Antrim, who are possibly the weakest team in Ulster this year, while Tyrone have all previous players available for this clash plus the influential Canavan is back from injury and have been also playing well, eliminating a good Down side without any real problems.

Tyrone will beat Cavan without any real difficulty IMO, the only question is will Cavan make in a tight score line or not.

Pick – Tyrone to win 2/9 Confidence 9/10

I will Post a couple of handicap selections if I get a chance but for the record I like Longford with the headastart vs Sligo (-3Pts @ 11/10), Confidence 7/10

And I also think that London should hold on to the +10Pts Handicap (+10Pts @10/11) Confidence – 8/10 - they have been given vs Monaghan given their performance in their one point loss to Roscommon in the last round. Monaghan are a bit better than Roscommon, at home and player for player better than London, but I don’t think 10 Points so (even if they are – they don’t need to win by 10 Pts either, as it’s hardly a game for local superiority either).

Armagh may beat Donegal, but 4/11 is a bad price, I would say the draw though unlikely is a good price at 15/2. I think Kildare vs Laois is also one with a high draw potential (15/2), both are evenly matched though I think with a +1Pt handicap Kildare @5/6 is an ok bet (Confidence 6.5/10), i.e. Kildare to either draw or win.

Carlow should hold Offally on the handicap, Carlow gave a good account of themselves vs Wexford and Offally are in disarray and suffered a harsh exit in the last round, hitting their morale hard. Dublin will beat Wexford - but probably will be a tight game maybe add the 3/10 price to the accy.

Phew…. Hope you all make use of these. If they end up winning!

In short take Meath, Westmeath, Tyrone, Mayo & Louth. Carlow & Longford on the handicap, probably also London & Kildare. For draws maybe Armagh/Donegal, Laois/Kildare & also Down/Fermanagh.

    Thats a brutal accumulator!!!

U could easily add Kerry, Tryone, Louth as certs!!!
Wouldnt be too sure with Offaly but id agree they should win!!!

I've a few with Kildare, Dublin (although i also have a nice acc sum with wexford at 10/3)

Also Cavan to beat tyrone...HA!!! With o neill, canavan back!!! No chance...look at their bench!! Get on any county team like!!!

Hopefully this one goes good...1 of many! i'm avoiding some of the other games for obvious reaons!!!

    Tyrone -5 EVS
    Meath -4 10/11
    Louth 4/9
    Monaghan 1/33
    Westmeath 1/10
    Mayo 2/9
    Kerry 1/6
    Offaly 2/9

Odds of approx 10/1 on this one!!! Not a banker....its risky especially with tyrone to win by >6 but i'm 85% that Meath will win by >5! They bet them by a cricket score in the league!! Also im only 70% with Offaly to win....Carlow aint that bad!!!

Londan +10 is also worth alook....they were reasonbly good VS roscommon!!!

    Good luck neways!!

Like I said, the Cavan bet is my own personal one and I explained why in another thread.

I don't think Louth could be added as certs. Waterford are bad but I know Louth players and even they admit their team is terrible and confidence within the county is at an all-time low.

I think Mayo and Kerry will both win but I was looking at Saturday's games only when I made those selections.

Dont count out Waterford folks, there's been some good training sessions and the some talanted players on the panel.

Waterford's first championship win in 17 years to come against Louth today. :D

I agree with Kev. Like I said above, Louth are nothing special.

Now dont think Louth will lose!! Bel;ieve Me...

I've got some very close connections (too close) to the louth team! Shane Lennon is back at full forward!! He's one of the best prospects in louth and ireland and guarantee he will get at least 4/5 points and mite bag a goal in the meantime!!

Darren Clarke has been on fire lately so expect more of the same!! The waterfors boys have some neat forwards (who cant shoot may I add)...but for some reason they have played the same defence all season (remember the Cavan game....oh my god!!!) who are just dire!!

    Antrim v Meath @ 3pm - Meath are 1.25 - Dead Cert
    Carlow v Offaly @ 5.30pm - Offaly are 1.23 - Dead Cert

add in Sligo v Longford if you want with Sligo @ 1.52 to win

Take my certs and you have 1.54 odds

add in sligo if yo want to increase this to 2.34

I honestly cant see my certs losing, Sligo is the interesting one, as i know little about longford, but have seen enough of them to add sligo into that accumulator.

Pretty safe betting, i've got 300 on those 3, with a return of around 400, giving my GAA stake to date at 850(if i win)

My bet that I think is very safe is:

    Louth 4/9
    Kerry 1/6
    Westmeath 1/10
    Mayo 2/9
    Monaghan 1/33
    Meath 1/4

    I put €20 on these, returns €58.63

Can't see any of the above losing, maybe Louth but then it would be a disaster for louth if they lost. Waterford are the worst team in the country. I know one of the lads on the louth team, so hopefully he won't let me down.

I also think this one has a good chance:

    Monaghan 1/33
    Offaly 2/9
    Kerry 1/6
    Westmeath 1/10
    Louth -3 points EVS
    Meath -4 points EVS
    Mayo -5 points EVS

The ones i'm worried about there are Louth and Mayo, but a €10 gives a nice retun of €123.41

Another one is to add Donegal to win, I just couldn't resist this, having seen Donegal last week they are great odds at 11/4. If I wasn't from Donegal I probably wouldn't bet on this one but I'm following my heart. A €5 with the above accumulater returns €231.39

I also think that Wexford are great odds at 3/1 but I also like them at 6/5 to be 4 points up and beat the Dubs. Swapping this with Donegal in the last one gives a return of €135.75 on €5.

At the end of them all, I think Louth is the one that will probably mess them all up on me. I hope your connections wooly69 can have a good effect on the game.

All results are good so far. Louth just scraped through for me. Lets hope Donegal can do the business against Armagh, if Donegal wins this I would be happy to lose every bet. Come on Donegal

Looks like Offaly scuppered alot of us. Hopefully for Cavan (and my other bet) Carlow have started a weekend of wins for the underdogs!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭digiman

Might listen to you next time wooly69 (not on the horses though!!). Offaly F***ed up 3 of my bets. I just hope my so called banker comes through for me. Kerry and Mayo just to win tomorrow should be safe enough although I thought the same about Offaly and Westmeath gave me some scare today, Tip were leading for a good while as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,666 ✭✭✭Imposter

Westmeath aren't great this year. Tipp aren't that bad and usually do relatively ok in Munster.

I was surprised with awfully though!

Well after spending e40, i made a profit of 18.63, in the end just happy to have got my money back and made a small profit, some games had me very worried.

All i can say now is that i hate offaly, screwd me out of another e123, but thats betting i suppose. Hard luck on your bets wooly69, maybe next week you will have some better luck. :D:D

Cavan nearly did it for me. Was happy they threw anyway even if I did lose money. My mate had the draw at 10-1 though!
