NVIDIA WILL lift the veils and disperse the smoke on the Geforce 7800 GTX at the crack of dawn on the 22nd of June, European time, and you will be able to read many reviews of these nice cards. Journies true and loyal to the principle of the non disclosure agreement will have one, while the really very very very important press will have two cards to show off its SLI scores. Rebellious scum like us won't get anything, as usual.

This should bring down the prices of other nVidia cards... but I'm wondering how long before the prices go down? I'm going to upgrade (I've only a GeForce 4), but I'm thinking of waiting untill after the above comes out, so that it drives down the prices, but how long would I have to wait?

The 6800gt has come down already has it not? Or is that only the agp version?
There's a few posts about it here in some of the threads

that jes.de 6800gt is an agp card alright,

Pci-e 6800gt have dropped about €40 in the past couple of months, hopefully they'll drop another bit when the new cards become widely available, I'd imagine that could take a couple of months......

Damn, and I just bought a 6600GT. Ah well, got it in the States so it was quite a bit cheaper than here (or jes which is where I was looking). Nice card anyway.

Probably would never have bought a 6800GT as they're just too expensive, even if they do come down in price. €100-150 is my usual graphics budget.

Ah that old debate, buy a €200 euro card every 1.5 years, or a €400 card once every 3 years..........

My last card was a 9600pro, bought last year, and cost me €140. At the time i could have picked up a 9800Pro for about €200. I think i got a better deal of the 9600Pro. Top end is never the best bang for buck. I wouldn't think you'd ever get the best value by buying the top rung.
