Convert .vob to .avi

    are there any reliable and FREE programs for converting a .vob file to.avi - a friend needs to convert a program he recorded for university to .avi so he can upload it to the Uni server. No great functionality needed, just something that will get the job done.

    gordian knot will do it very good program. not click and go have to set afew settings but just keep everything as defualt and it should do it. there is a link to it in the free software thread.it will be in divx /xvid codec if thats ok.

    The original question's already been answered so:

    I'm looking for something to convert dvd to mpeg. It's for a mate. He has a home made video (on dvd) and wants to convert it to small mpeg file.

    His vid is only about 3 minutes, but file size is the important factor (as he'll be offering it for download on his own site) so resizing the resolution would be important.

    This is NOT porn. :)
    He's a singer / songwriter.

    "Bink and Smacker" converts a lot of video type files so might be worth a look. Its free.
