Why must we live our lives tortured in bleak misunderstanding,
alone, bereft of hope we gaze out at long barren landscapes
    of despair

I reached for you, fingers outstretched, eyes wide open in the darkness
    but you weren't there
how could you have left, or never arrived?

Too many questions, too many answers, and yet not enough.
our pain spans galaxies and generations and all we can say to one another
    is nothing.

Who can tell what it is like,
to be a crap teenage would-be poet whinging about everything,
no one understands me or feels my deep pain.
    Well, Maybe Avril Lavigne does.
I revolve aroundin a pit of honeynut cheerios and my own tears
    all alone.

I like the last verse :).

I actually think it does 95% of the work in this poem. I'm not sure if the earlier material pays off all that much. Let me know if you want more of an explanation.
