Everyday hot vs Tv hot

    Hey all :D
Does anyone else agree that there are two major leagues of hotness?
I'm referring to the difference between being a silver screen goddess and a high street honey.
There are some people who,if you saw them walking down the road, could make your knees weak and yet if these same people were to appear in a film or on tv,you wouldn't think much of them at all.
This is because there are two completely seperate leagues. We expect more from celebrities. We expect perfection. Let's not deny it!
Anyway, this Caroline Morahan presenter woman from the AH thread is a perfect example of an "everyday" beauty. She is a total tv dog imo but if she was out in a pub or club I'd surely be impressed!
Just wondering if people agree with this idea.

ye but i think make-up plays a big part in it all, not to mention hair stylists and all that!
i reckon you could take someone who you think is hot from the street do them up all fancy and they wouldnt look out of place on the tv, but thats just my opinion.
so i dont think theres two different types of hotness just people who have the time to spend on their appearance, such as tv presenters.

Look at those Atomic Kitten mingers though!
They were just a pack of chavs done up with nice makeup and hair styles but they still looked tv ugly! They just didn't cut it.

Just think "The Swan", any high profile TV/Movie stars have had all that same work done and some and that's the main difference; the amount you spend. Even young female hollywood types are plastic surgery'd to the hilt and would never admit it, and don't get me on to the starvation bit either.

Yeah sure. Compared to someone like Kirsten Dunst she's a real winner alright!

I'm not disputing the fact that these people have work done to look more perfect but they have it done because they realise that tv hot is a different kind of hotness! A higher standard of perfection.

I agree, ascertained by extreme measures.

Well sure it is for some people but there are still some celebrities who haven't had any work done and who set the high standard that the rest try to live up to by means of plastic surgery etc.
You can be totally natural and still be tv hot.

Disagree. I see women every day of the week in shops, pubs, walking down the street etc. who are as hot as any celebrity. If you're hot you're hot and that's it. A 10/10 normal girl is just as good looking as a 10/10 celebrity.

But I think lads are much more objective when it comes to judging women's looks than women are at judging men's looks. Women seem to find it difficult to separate physical attractiveness from fame, wealth, power etc. So male celebrities seem better looking than they would be if they looked the exact same but were just normal guys. If Brad Pitt had an identical twin who was an accountant, women woudl percieve the accountant twin as being less good looking than the famous actor twin.

    .

No there are not the same.. In the majority of cases, the normal girl has not had surgery, not had 2 or 3 people fuss over he make up and hair, does not spent 3 or 4 hours a day working out and does not have an infinite amount of money to spend on clothes..

Well if that what it takes for someone to be good looking, but a 'normal' girl can look 10/10 as well without all that, well i know which one is naturally good looking....

Celebrity is fake.. Its a real woman that you want...

hum, interesting. i think your right. there is two different leagues of hotness. But i think the normal hotness is much more attractive because a) its natural, and b) you have a chance with them compared to a celebrity.

Exactly. Check out Britney Spears a couple of years ago when she had a personal chef, personal trainers, stylists and never stepped out the door without being groomed to within an inch of her life by hair stylists and makeup artists. She was constantly working, always had to look perfect and was a fantasty for men of all ages.

Fast forward 2/3 years. She doesn't work anymore and just arses around with the hubby all day long drinking Starbucks and eating fast food. She opts for clothes which are obviously more her personal style than the clothes she was poured into on photoshoots. She's no longer groomed to within an inch of her life and goes out with natural hair and little or no makeup. I doubt she's a fantasy for anybody these days.

Celebrity hotness is manufactured and very high maintenance. To be fair, lots of celebrities are better looking than the average person to start with, but it's when you add the endless gym workouts, the restrictive diets, the expensive dermatologists and beauty treatments, the free clothes, the makeup artists and the $800 haircuts that they reach a whole new level of hotness that no normal person could achieve. It's ludicrous to think we could - we don't have hours a day to spend in the gym, we aren't paid to stay thin for our roles (in the Baywatch and Desp Housewives contracts) and we dont' have personal assistants to do all the mundane stuff in our lives to free us up to concentrate solely on our appearance!

Its easy to spot, I agree.. But there is basically 2 different scales... It is not fair to compare an "normal" girl to a celebrity because they are at an unavoidable disadvantage form the get go..

And who something bad about Britney.. easy now...
