Is this the beginning of the end for Intel in Ireland

I don't think so - not the end anyway. It'll certainly be the end of any hopes for further expansion though.

However, our position within the EU safeguards our position with Intel I think...lack of tariffs, free trade across the region etc.

They've just started building a new Fab, Ireland is very safe. They're going into Vietnam so they have a better foothold in the emerging markets around that area.

The New fab is on hold again though, as they are waiting to find about funding which the irish goverment has now said they cannot have. It is very possible that they may pull out of here and there is actually nothing to stop them doing so. They had Huge Tax incentives when they cam e here originally, and they all stopped jan of this year so we will just have to wait and see:)
