Hi, I had a lot of trouble with laptop, so fully reinstalled Windows XP Professional from scratch, but now my CD RW/DVD combo drive won't play DVD movies. It can access DVD's no problem but when it comes to actually playing the movie it just won't. The option to play DVD doesn't even appear on Windows Media Player, while Intervideo tries to play it but fails. Went through their help thing and it suggested a new codec, but no idea what to actually do..anyway any ideas? The model is HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-424ON

    thanks

    Paul
P.S know this should prob just be in laptop section, but figure its applicable to both so worth a shot here too.

Install a software DVD player like PowerDVD or WinDVD.
They include the encryped MPEG2 codec required.
