Get over to jes.de for your graphics card, fabulous prices over there. (i'm starting to sound like an advertisement here)

Oh ya baby - can you wait a while. Dual gfx dual CPU driving prices down.
6800gt from jes is 260 for a cracking card. What your budget and what are you planning for the comp.

    in lay mans terms

overclocking is making your cpu run above the retail speed.
for example you have a 2ghz cpu, you can overclock it and maybe get 2.4/2.5 it all depends on the cpu.

this comes about as the cpu manufacturers make the chips all the same speed but down clock (make them slower) some of them and sell them off.

overclocking in the long run shortens the life of a cpu but with some people only keeping pc's for 3 to 4 years it's unoticeable

First question - how much do you want to spend?

Komplett are good for most parts. jes have good prices but from the experience of friends they're support is pi$$-poor if there's a fault. Power Supplies I get from HiTide. Memory from Shop4Memory.

I'm running HL2 and UT2004 with very good performance on my non-overclocked rig (see my sig). You could build my pc very cheaply now. Athlon 64 cpus can cost from 180 to 450 depending on what speed you get. Also, how long before you want to upgrade - you could get dual-core now and be safe for a year or two or start of with a 3000Mhz and upgrade the cpu later on. There's going to be different opinions on this. But it all boils down to my original question - how much money have you?
