Dunno if this is the right place but I'll give it a lash anyways.

So I need new hair gel, I've been used Garnier Fructis extra strong for years now and I'm fed up of how hard it makes my hair.

So I'm looking for a new gel that has sufficient strength to spike my hair but also won't go hard.

    Anybody?

Avoid gel. It looks very greasy and is dreadful for your hair. Give wax a try.

Back in the days of spikey hair I used to use the Lynx short hair jel (with my spikes being at least 2 inches high each :) ), worked a treat but I'd say my hair's alot healthier or whatever now that it's just long...

    This stuff
    is the ****ing win

doesnt make your hair hard and can be re-worked should your hair get out of shape. Should work well for a spikey style.

I could have sworn I replied in this thread last night.

Wax is not a good idea if you want to get close to a girl. When my boyfriend used to wear wax I hated hugging and being close to him because my hair felt so greasy if it touched his. If you're snuggled up with a girl and you're greasing up her face in the process do you think that's attractive? I would highly recommend gel(from a girl's point of view).

I had a look for that today while I was in the centre, and I couldnt find it.
Where do you buy yours, or is it only available on line?

bought it in a tescos shop i think, or possibly sainsburys (in the north)

surprised alot of places dont keep it, it won some FHM award for best product.

I dont find it makes my hair greasy, but i dont use much as my hair is very short

eh, I'm a girl, and have used both gel and wax, the purple shochwaves is good gel, doesn't go rock hard and you don't need much of it. Wax? Definately Lee Stafford's Messed Up or Bed Head Manipulator. Both smell good and aren't greasy kinda pricey but worth it and you don't need much so neh. The Lee Stafford one is in a bright pink tub and I mean BRIGHT the Bed Head one is either a turquiose or a BRIGHT green tub, it changes from time to time, turquiose one smells like cocconut and the green one smells like citrus fruit. Not sure where to buy Lee Stafford but Bed Head can only be got in Hairdressers.

Yeah its great. Good suggestion weemcd. A bit on the old expensive side If I was to say anything against it but other than that it's feckin' brilliant.

Now that i've started growing my hair again, i'm using Dax Wax. I'm using the same tub i had before i shaved my head over a year ago. So it'll last ya anyway.

I use Garnier Fructis Wax, it smells nice ;)

Boots have it on a two for one offer at the moment. watch out there is two version, normal and strong. I find the strong to hard, but it depends on the look you want.

I use Blue Brylcream that comes in a small tub.
The Green one does the job well but it is very tough to get out of your hair because it is so water resistant. The Blue one on the otherhand is quite strong and also easy to wash out, however it also gets really weak during rain.

No way! Remember the red one and the blue one. didn't suit my hair at all, started with blue dax about 8 years ago and never looked back.

but it is true, your hairy is waxy and girls don't like the greasy feel. but so what.

Used to use blue dax but now red.. works a treat for me now and lasts a few days though I wash every day....
