x800xl or 6800gt?

Im going to upgrade from my 9800 pro 128mb to either an ati x800xl or nvidia 6800GT both 256mb. Most reviews slightly lean towards the x800xl but there doesnt seem much between them. What do you guys reckon i should go for please?

Personally, i'd go for the 6800gt from jes. Only 260 euro, cant be beat really. (price wise at least )

Go for the 6800gt in Jes its cracking value. There are more under 300 there as well. Not mush of a difference in the cards performace only on certain games so its up to your game style.

I went with a x800xl about 2 months ago but at the time it was better value for money than a 6800gt where as now the 6800gt's seem to have come down loads.
If you use linux at all go with nvidia, ati have poor performance compared to nvidia when used with as linux distro.
Give it a few more weeks and maybe the x800xl will come down to.
I got the his one with arctic cooler, althou quiet there is a noticable ticking coming from the fan. Apparentlly this is cause by the card sending pulses to the fan, i have it hooked up to a fan controler and its lovelly and quiet now right up to about 150-200rpm below max fan speed.
Havent bother oc'ing but it does do this out of the box, same prob goes for some 6800gt's.

cheers, but personally i wouldn't touch the current "X" series of ATI cards... the don't have Pixel Shader 3... and that's where its going at the mo... like age of empiers 3 relies heavily on PS3!!!
