    Did anybody get this one?

160 GByte HD in LIDL since last monday (June 13 2005)

It's got liquid bearing I was wondering whether this was a Seagate Barracuda (I have a 40 Gig and an 80 Gig of these, excellent for home recording both extremely silent and good performance) - or which other manufacturer?

    cheers
    Axel

Eh? there were only 250GB hard drives(both internal and externals were this size) in Lidl yesterday, don't know where you are getting the 160GB from?
Anyway the internal drives were Maxtor Diamondmax 10 ATA133 16MB cache IDE drives and the drives in the external cases were supposed to be Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB 8MB cache (also IDE) with USB 2.0 connectivity. I bought a pair of the internal drives so can confirm them to be as above, the external drive info I have just picked up from what others have said about them.
[edit]Oh and yes you can buy the case and hard drive separate if you want to, but it is unlikely that it will work out as cheap as the Lidl external drives. This is what I intend doing with the ones I bought as the externals were gone when I got there... d@mn new opening hours.
From what I have read on them one of the best cases are the Raidsonic Icy Box series but there are cheaper cases available too. eg. Cheaper case 1 Cheaper case 2 but the quality might not be as good.
