In the Irish Times today. The website ratemyprofessor.com is opening an Irish site. Similar to ratemyteachers.com. Should be interesting!

I hope they change the format. The whole rate my teachers idea is a bit childish imo. Most if not all lecturers are very much wanting of constructive critical feedback. If it was less of a rating system and more of a format for students to give their opinions on the lecturers style, notes, syllabus, percieved attitude etc. it would be excellent.

My lecturers aren't sexy, not that funny and teach me stuff I am giving them a zero star rating.

'twill be good, the SU can use that as fuel and it would happily satisfy me if I don my retired SU hat as I was never even close to satisfied by the feedback mechanisms implemented by the medical school concerning lecturer standards......

After all the hysteria about ratemyteacher being a tool for students to abuse their teachers annonnymously i logged onto the site out of curiosity and checked out my old school. The vast majority of comments about the teachers i remembered were pretty accurate.

It'll be interesting to see ratemylecturer in ireland, especially in the faculties where students have choice about what courses to take, eg english.

Sounds like a good idea. I'd say lecturers will kick up a bit of fuss though like the teachers did, I've seen in committee meetings people wanting the comment boxes taken off BESS Faculty course evaluation forms as 'hurtful comments can be horrible for young lecturers'. Managed to keep them on though :)

    Bit of a bump...?

Irish and UK colleges use to be on it, until the site was bought by Viacom company - MTVu, and was reverted back solely to North American Colleges for reasons of finance.

At the moment, its only secondary school rating available through the RMT site.
