Anthony Costello (SBG N) v Owen Drummond (SBG) 66kgs

Owen Drummond has delighted the crowd at previous Ring of Truth events with his well rounded style. From strikes to slams to submissions, Owen is comfortable with them all, and always trying to push the action, no matter what the range.

Fighting out of SBG N Anthony Costello will undoubtedly have powerful and skilful grappling and will be looking to impose his gameplan on the more experienced Drummond.

Will Drummond be able keep his opponent at bay or will his take-no-prisoners style allow Costello to secure a submission? We'll find out, at Ring of Truth 3: Old Skool.

Paddy Yank (PFS) v James Keyes (ULK) 70kgs

Paddy Yank is a veteran of Extreme Combat 2, whereas James Keyes is making his MMA debut, but both men will be looking to make their first appearance at Ring of Truth a memorable one.

Coming from Progressive Fighting Systems, we can expect Paddy Yank to have good grappling skills, and yet not be afraid to stand and bang if needs be.

James Keyes, fighting out of UL Kickboxing under the watchful eye of rising star Tim Murphy, will be looking to establish ULK as a legitimate force on the Irish scene.

Keyes will undoubtedly want to keep the fight standing, but will his takedown defence be good enough to stop the powerful Northerner, or will Yank turn the tables and opt to push the striking action himself?

We'll find out on the 2nd of July - Ring of Truth 3: Old Skool.

Anthony Broxson (WVT) v Shane Courtney (SBG) 75kgs

Anthony Broxson will be on a mission for vengeance after losing out to Courtney's stablemate Mick Leonard at the last Ring of Truth. Known for his devastating boxing skills, but also having a slick ground game, Broxson is a daunting opponent for first-timer Courtney.

Shane Courtney, however, has proven his grappling skills at the recent National Submission Wrestling Championship, and dropping in weight class from -83kgs, he may well have the edge in power in this matchup.

If Courtney can enter into the clinch without taking too much damage, we'll see a ferocious ground battle, but if Broxson can keep him on the feet and off balance, it could be a long night and a long fight for the SBG fighter.

If you miss this, you better be dead, or in jail, and if you're in jail, break out!

I stood for 4 hours in heels at the last one.

Mikey Clifford (Kerry VT) vs Adrian Costigan (SBG) 80kgs

Mikey Clifford has a reach advantage and we may see him try to keep the SBG fighter at bay and punish his legs with low kicks in the early portion of this match, but both of these fighters have excellent grappling skills, so it's almost certain that this fight will end on the canvas.

Adrian Costigan, making his debut will be looking to use his clinch to assume a dominant position on the ground early on, but Clifford is known for his leg locks, which he can seemingly catch from any position. Fighting under amateur rules, with no strikes to the head on the ground, we can expect a fast and flowing ground battle.

Will Clifford secure one of his trademark leg submissions, or will Costigan capitalise on the attempt and pass the Kerry fighters guard and secure the finish himself?

We'll find out at Ring Of Truth 3!

Gerald McNichol (PFS) vs Mick Kelly (SBG) 78kgs

In Ring of Truth 1, Gerald McNichol lost out on a judges decision to another SBG fighter, Francis Heagney. During that matchup he showed excellent defensive skills on the ground. Showing excellent poise he kept himself safe against both ground and pound and submission attacks, weathering the storm to come back strong in the second round.

"Judo" Mick Kelly will undoubtedly live up to his name, and we can expect to see him quickly try to enter the clinch to use his skills there. On the ground Kelly will bring an aggressive and rapid fire style, but will McNichol be able to ward off his submission attempts and use the tight guard he has demonstrated before?

The PFS fighter has proven that not only are his skills up to scratch, but he has the conditioning and heart to fight all out for the full ten minutes. Will dark horse Kelly make as big a splash in MMA as he has in the grappling scene or will McNichol avenge his earlier loss?

We'll find out, on Saturday, July 2nd.

Neil Seery (Freefight) v Paddy Carmoddy (Kerry VT) 80kgs

Paddy Carmoddy is tall for an 80kg fighter and he uses his long legs to great effect with thunderous low kicks and penetrating knees. If Neil Seery can get past these and take the fight to the ground, the next hurdle will be the Kerry VT fighter's impressive ground game.

Constantly active, Paddy Carmoddy, is difficult to control and Seery will have to play a very tight top game to negate his relentless attacking style.

Carmoddy is equally aggressive standing, so if Seery opts to stand and bang, this one could be a real barnburner.

The Ringside Club at the National Stadium will be electric, as these two fighters give it their all.

And now, the Pro Rules matchups!

Micky Young (PFS) v Pierce Stokes (SBG) 65.8kgs

There's no one more Old Skool than Pierce Stokes. From sanshou to sub wrestling this warrior has been there and done them all, now he's making his long awaited comeback to Mixed Martial Arts. A true all-rounder, Stokes has shown the ability to finish from any situation.

Micky Young, the Irish lightweight champion, will be looking to prove himself after SBG fighter Robbie Walsh was unfortunately injured early on in their fight at ROT 1. Not having shown his skills there, Young will be hoping to impress the crowd at the Ringside club. Much like his opponent, Young is ready, willing and able to get it on at any range.

With both of these fighters so rounded, we'll see the full range of possibilities in MMA explored - striking, clinch, takedowns, submissions, ground n' pound and others, as these two look for a weakness to exploit.

Can Young cement himself as the top dog, or will Stokes make a roaring comeback with all cylinders firing?

Tim Murphy (ULK) v Colm O'Reilly (SBG) 65kgs

At first glance this matchup seems fairly simple to analyse. Colm O'Reilly, numerous times national submission champion, will be looking to take the fight to the ground, whereas Tim Murphy, striker extrodinaire will try to keep it standing. If he gets the takedown, O'Reilly will win, if not Murphy will.

But let's look a little deeper...
In his last fight at Bushido Rings, Colm O'Reilly faced a nightmare opponent: someone he couldn't keep down. As that match progressed, O'Reilly began to connect with accurate punches, while shrugging off the powerful knees his opponent was throwing at him.
Exhausted from hunting for the takedown, there wasn't enough behind his strikes to turn the tide, but a more robust striking game coupled with his newfound confidence to use it could have seen O'Reilly take the win.

Tim Murphy, known for his taekwondo and kickboxing background, has shown that although he favours striking, he is extremely comfortable on the ground. Not hesitating to engage, Murphy wowed the crowd at the last Ring of Truth with a Sakuraba-style ground game, complete with cartwheel guard pass!

I think both men may take this opportunity to leave behind their old classifications as "grappler" and "striker" and show the crowd, and the world, that they are fully rounded fighters.

Murphy may be hunting the scalp of the submission supremo, whereas O'Reilly may come in ready to bang with the Mad Dog.

Stuart Edgeworth (Kickboxing) v Micheal Leonard (SBG) 70kgs

It's the biggest cliché in Mixed Martial Arts, so I'll only say it once: this is a classic striker versus grappler matchup!

Mick "Sissy Boy" Leonard, fighting out of SBG is a rising star of Irish MMA. Stuart Edgeworth, a proponent of Mugendo kickboxing was victorious at the last Ring of Truth in an Ultimate Kickboxing match with Leonard's stablemate, Willie Hamill.

Leonard is known for his fierce slams and aggressive groundwork, displaying his submission skills with a win at the last Ring of Truth.
To counter this, national kickboxing champion Edgeworth, will try to use his powerful strikes to keep Leonard at bay, keeping the SBG fighter off balance and looking for an opportunity to deliver a crushiung, fight finishing strike.

Will Leonard be picked off by Edgeworth as he closes the distance or will he delight the crowd with a powerful slam? Will Edgeworth find himself on the receiving end of one of Leonard's tricksy submissions, or will he keep the fight standing and show what the striking game is all about?

This is the best ROT yet.

Tom Haddock (PBS) v Eoghan Gerraghty (SBG) 80kgs

Tom "Tom'ahawk" Haddock from PBS is perhaps the country's most experienced fighter. He will be squaring off against newcomer Eoghan Gerraghty, from SBG. Although there is a wide gulf in experience, this will be a very close contest as both of these athletes epitomise modern MMA and are comfortable standing, in the clinch or on the ground. Eoghan is known for his takedown skills and heavy hands. Tom is more known for his submission skills, but has also demonstrated a well-rounded striking game.

We'll see a fierce standup battle, but this fight will most likely end on the ground. Eoghan will try to impose his powerful top game, while Tom, who demonstrated an extremely tight guard game at the national submission championships, will be hunting another submission victory. Will Tom's experience and ringcraft give him the advantage or will the Dubliner manage to impose his gameplan on the fight?

    Title Fight
Owen Dempsey (Champion) v Greg Loughran (Challenger) 70kgs

This main event will have the crowd on their feet, but when the dust settles, only one man will be left standing.

Both of these fighters have the skills to finish this fight on the ground, but they have both shown a preference to stand and strike.

Greg Loughran has shown the crowd in the Ringside Club what he's capable of with a devastating knockout at ROT1. Dempsey has been dubbed by some as "the Irish Wanderlei Silva" - need I say more?

This fight doesn't need any hype, anyone who has seen these warriors in action will feel their heart beating that bit faster just thinking about it.

Will Dempsey retain his title or will we see a new champion crowned on the 2nd July?
