Audigy

I recently bought an audigy 2 platinum and im running it through my technics speakers...

Nothing could prepare me for the difference in sound. One thing that creative dont really advertise is the sheer power increase...I mean the clarity and bass is certainly amazing but it is my guess that a lot of people would see the audigy as just providing better quality sound. I find that my €1500 stereo cannot handle the power properly when i put anything above 70% of its means in terms of volume (and im only using 2 phono and one 3.5" jack to connect my pc to the stereo)...Im wondering does anyone else find the increase in speaker quality too or is it just the volume you see?

I really didn't notice a huge difference but then again I am using a 3 year old pair of Labtec 2.1 cheapo speakers I would dearly like to have some proper speakers to use the sound card with but I don't have the cash. As an upgrade from my inbuilt sound card it's OK but not that hugely different. I got it cheap though, ~€30 including delivery.

Prior, i had one of them... The difference is huge. The sound was allot crisper with allot more detail.

Yep have one too (non platinum though, I couldn't justify the extra cash for connectors I'd probably never use). I upgraded from an SBLive and noticed a good difference even from that. I think what you're talking about is plugged a good bit by creative, I'm not an audiophile so I could be wrong but I think it's the high SnR (106Db iirc) that allows it to sound so crisp and clear and to go to high columes without distorting. I noticed the same thing in my car when I upgraded a crappy sony head unit to a decent one (still sony). Even with the same speakers it was much better sound quality and could go much louder before distorting.
