Right I'm heading into town to get some new pedals. What does everyone recommend. I Like the sounds of pavement, pixies, placebo, radiohead.... no metal basically.

I need some sort of overdrive/dist and and a delay just for fun.. any other pedals/effect people recommend? any help greatly appreciated!

A wahwah pedal in the middle of those two is always fun.

a Compresor? chorus? eq...... my compressor is nearly always on, eq most of the time..
chorus can add more dimention and add to a nice clean tone

try the boss overdrives the "od" ones, they can have a nicer less harsh overdrive/distortion....

tubescreamer for distortion and a boss dd-6 for delay (or if u can afford it the line 6 delay stuff is sensational).. chorus and comp are other obvious choices..that should do unless u want to mes around with sound effects and mad noises

i'd try the pedals in town, then buy them online, you'll save money (perhaps 10-20 euros a pedal)

cheers for the tips. Im interested to see what a chorus does. Anyone know any good site I could buy off?? ones in Ireland perhaps. Is ebay a bad idea?

Nope Ebay is good. Best cheap digital delay available is the Line 6 Echo Park. It's amazing, a downsized version of the DL-4 (no loop sampler) for one third the priceof the DL-4. I highly recommend it.... Much better than any boss delay for like... €50 less. €129 ish on www.thomann.de

Chorus is a disgustingly 80's sound..

Only when people can't use it right. That's like saying distortion is an 80's sound

right after tryong out a load. think the ones i really like are. all boss
    od-3
    dd-3
    md-3 mega dist?

Did not really like the distorion pedal that much. thought the od-3 would do the job. what does everyone think of them? the dd-3 is incredibly expensive but it was so much fun. have not had that much fun since our protest in primary school.

DONT get a DD-3 whatever you do.... theyre soooo basic and dont sound as good as an Echo Park! The echo park is cheaper and all... just buy one! Or at least try one out before you hand over the squids for that boss yoke.

Check out ProCo's RAT range of distortion pedals, they sound lovely.

And any effect can sound great used right. Chorus can sound awful but it can also sound beautiful, just have to know what you're doing.

I've fallen in love with ****ing around with pitchshifters lately, great fun. Especially if you like Johnny Greenwood in his bleepy guitar mode

Mmmmm Johnny Greenwood...what a god. I was watching Radiohead live on vh2 last night, he's just so damn cool. The amount of strraaaaange stuff he does is wonderful!
