WHat do you think of the theory that Horatio is not real, hi is Hamlets perfect image of himself, horatio is never seen directly talkingto the other characters,
He has the perfect mix of Reason Vs. Passion that Hamlet craves
It is kind od like Fight CLub

Also I Believe Hamlet to be Gay!
    He is
    • Obsessed with his mother
    • obsessed with Horatio
    • Is extremebly volatile towards Ophelia, one minute he loves her, the next he tells her to go to a nunnery
    • He is disillusioned with all woman "Frailty thy name is Woman"
    • He is disillusioned with life, longs for suicide
    • Is confused about his emotions, what he should do

Wow you're making threads because of me now. Do you like me that much?

He is a real person, and he does directly talk to people, even if it is in a small amount. Marcellus even describes him as a "scholar".

I do find your thought on Hamlet quite interesting though. There is a large belief that Shakespeare himself was gay, so it woudn't be unusual for him to write a play with a hidden homosexual feeling running through it.

Yeah but Marcellus could be his imagination to, he never interacts with the main 11 characters, it is like HAmlet really is mad, with the people in the play who he is sane with, does that make sense?

    Boring.

How come when your online there is no green light at the bottom left of your user-bit where it should be?

In your profile, change to invisible mode.

But why did you quote the word "boring" when you asked that?

Well, it is a possibility, but that would mean that Bernado would have to be imaginary too.

I'd have to read the book again to be sure though, as I can't remember if these minor characters did or did not interact with anyone else.

There are many such theories which abound from Hamlet, I'd advise you run a google on it - I'm sure you'll find better forums (*gasp* blasphemy) to discuss such a specialist topic.

yea, he is real. It is cool to imagine that he isnt though. If you bend a few little rules, and ignore a few lines, he really could be all in Hamlets head.

edit:at least this is a step up from "OmG teh TXt SPAEK is GHEY.CrAzY fR0g!11!1one1"

Tyler Durden is a real man - anything else is in your imagination.

I thought the idea behind the play was that Fortinbras was the kind of prince (i.e. decisive, self-assured) that Hamlet wanted to be. The play already has an ideal for Hamlet. Horatio's purpose is to serve as more of a 'straight-man', the sensible character who survives to tell the story at the end.

Yeah but hamlet also always goes on about how reason and passion are at war within himself and in some quote which i forget says that horatio has the perfect mix!
