Swirling cloud 3d Effect

    Any one have any idea how to achieve a convincing swirling effect (like a galaxy swirling, cloud or smoke effect) either for still or animated scene. Prefered package is 3d Studio Max. If any one knows of a good site that would be great. Thanks.

    Well,

    This probably isn't what you want but it might be useful.

    In photshop just just use the render clouds filter with a light and dark shade of gray and then apply a twirl distort on it.

    Thta might not be the angle you're looking for though.

    hey,iv just finished building a scene in 3d studio max r4,it was a submarine on the ocean floor,i didnt have any smoke effects, but i had bubbles swirling around from the engine to add more a moving effect have u tryed www.3dcafe.com the have great tut on max..or you could do as ur man said in photoshop and import it into max and annimate it? g'luck

    You could try fooling around with the combustion tool, it might just do the trick(with alot of tweaking)the only other way that I can think of is with particals but the more you use the longer the render time gets....
