My first Flash

Shameless web site promotion, I know... but it's my first Flash anim... it's the 'splash' intro for http://irelandoffline.com/

A redirect is needed there anyway, so I thought it was no harm having a splash anim rather than just a "please wait while you are redirected" message.

tis cool but just 2 ickle things.

The font at the end of it looks more like "CUCK ME" rather than "CLICK ME"

and the [CLICK HERE OR WAIT TO BE CONNECTED TO THE IrelandOffline WEB SITE] is a bit long to read...how bout somethin nice and simple or us simple folk like click here to go straight to... etc'

that snail looks logo looks great, and the ireland offline website is very nice. The flash is good, my only real criticism is that the words "click here" look a lot like "cuck here"... i was thinking wtf does cuck mean?

Yeah- now that ye mention it... I'll sort out the "cuck here" thingy... when I have some free time (just started a time consuming part-time job)...

While it's beautifully ironic that this highlights how long it takes for Flash to download over our measly modems, I got redirected before the movie was finished.

Personally, I am so sick and tired of useless Flash intros. We do not live in a world of broadband. As you can get redirected before the movie finishes, what on earth is the point in having pretty spinning letters on the screen?

Now a greyscale still of that logo w/ the snail would look nice, and as a GIF would load nice and quickly.

If you've done this to highlight our plight in an Internet rife with Flash, then, well... it's good

No, I did it because we needed to do a redirect anyway, so I thought I might as well put a (small) Flash anim there too... I generally don't like Flash splash pages myself, but this one sort of serves a purpose in that a redirect page was needed anyway (to send you to the server our site is hosted on from the server that the irelandoffline.com domain is hosted on).

If it's the case that the Flash anim hasn't loaded fully by the time you're redirected (15 seconds) - then all well and good- it highlights, as you say, the unacceptibly low speed of the connection available to the common user today.
